Lake sturgeon in a lake

I’m going to be fishing a lake in northern WI that has sturgeon in it. As luck would have it, the sturgeon season will be open while I’m there and I was hoping to take the wife and in-laws out to catch their first sturgies.

I’ve caught plenty of those beautiful critters on the St Croix, but does fishing sturgeon in a lake differ much from fishing them in a river? Are there any certain things I should look for? Max depth of the lake is only around 30′ or so.

Hope you have a good sonar!

Your best intel would come from people fishing the lake already or possibly a bait shop.

I’ll ask around. The lake survey (WI doesn’t do very in depth surveys) said that lake sturgeon were present. I don’t know in what numbers or if there is any size to them at all.
