What an interesting year so far.

How’s the ice doing down there?

I was in Lake City last Saturday and was absolutely shocked…The lake was open all the way down to the point where the Marina is in Lake City. Burger King bay still had ice as well as some ice jammed in front of the Hok Si La ramp. I’m guessing that will be open this weekend if it isn’t already. This seems really early for the lake but I would assume its because of the high water and all of the rain and wet snow we’ve had. On a side not if you like watching eagles now is the time. They are all over down there.

Thanks for the heads up on the eagles. I know a person that would like to go down there with her camera.

X2 on the Eagles. They are swarming the river in troves the last two weeks, from the lake all the way up to the dam. There was no point in time last weekend where there was less than 10 within eye-shot. There’s always a lot of Eagles around, but this year seems to have brought even more in.

I haven’t been on p4 since Jan 22, but that day I cruised from dam to lake and back again. Never seen so many eagles in one day, most were downstream of redwing but holy moly they are thick.

Here’s what the mouth looked like in January
