Lake Pepin Ice

Can anybody tell me what the ice is like on Pepin? Was thinking about going to Maiden Rock area on Saturday. Will be taking atv/snowmobile… much appreciated!

I think that the upper lake accesses are closed to all vehicle traffic right now. You can hoof it though. I know Dakota county and Goodhue county in MN have closed accesses on the MN side due to poor ice and having had vehicles go thru. I can’t see the ice any better on the WI side.

Appreciate that…. not looking to drive on it but take the snowmobile or atv. Anybody doing that?

I was out of Lake City Monday night and had 4 to 5 inches and didn’t go far out.
We had some cold couple days since but I’d be surprised if you could take anything out from MR.
Haven’t been on the WI side up there but no atv’s are going out on the MN side across from it. A snowmobile went thru last Sat. up there.

I was there yesterday and whwere i had beeen fishing a few days earlier on 8-10 inches was blown open by the Gail force winds we had for two days straight got to onto prolly 10-12 inches but open water wasn’t far away , use extreme caution fishing was slow water clarity was zero

Be careful it really got chewed up from the wind. areas where people were fishing last weekend had open water a couple days ago. Can still fish out of maiden rock but be very careful and don’t go upriver at all. Once u get out from the bay and start going towards rush it is extremely unstable.

What Tom said. MN counties closed it to all vehicles, ATVS and snowmobiles included.
