My vote is stay off the lake and do day houses or stay at any of the places up there and run portables. Seldom is there action past dark. Bankers hours lake.

Sportsmans is a great choice. They have great service. They check in on you every day. Bring you bait and if you need something they will get it for you. It’s a great adventure and you get to ride out to your sleeper in one of these….

Sportsmans will have info on what to bring. Basically your sleeping bag / pillow. Food stuff. Fishing gear. Beverage of choice. Mid week is the best time to go. Better prices, less pressure, better service.

If cost is a factor Wheeler’s has two (I think) sleeper shacks in their RV area you can stay in and then drive out to the day shacks for fishing. It’s cheaper than the nice cabins but let’s you come in and use the shower house, restaurant, etc. For two people the cost was a lot more reasonable than their other lodging.

I haven’t rented from the, but I’ve never heard anything bad about Freds Beds, either. Known lots of people who have rented from them and they’ve all had positive feedback.

Stay. Away. From. Arnesons Rocky Point! Have stayed there a few times (last 2 times were not my decision) and always leave saying I never want to go there again. Couldn’t be run any less organized.

Never had any issues with Arnesens. We still use them if we have a big group trip. I have used Nels at Fred’s Beds as well and would recommend them also.

My wife and I went out of Zipple Bay a few years ago, we enjoyed it. We did the shallow water sleeper (15ft of water) for the early morning and evening bite and we also had a deep water house for daytime use (32ft)

Im a fan of boarderview lodge. I usually go there 2 times every winter. The best thing I like about sleeper houses is that I’m not anyone”s schedule. I can sleep in if I want, make food when I want and do it on my time…my.02

900 lb gorilla (to me) is bathroom. I have seen numerous YouTube videos of guys in wheelhouses with no bathrooms, and out there for days. Where are they relieving themselves? What does the area around the wheelhouse look like?

Bucket and garbage bags or dry flush toilet is what most people use
