Hey all going to lake of the woods towards the end of the month. Always gone with a guide but this year just gonna go out on my own. Wondering what ice roads are open for the public? I know zippel bay but not sure about others. Thank you!

    X2 Adians

If I had an all expensed paid trip to Zippel Bay I’d trade it on for a root canal. The owners are not very nice. (I sugar coated that a bit)

I like wigwams road. They are more expensive but usually less people on the road which i think makes for better fishing.

All the ice roads are open to the public but you’ll have to pay to access them. I’m not sure of the prices for road access this year but it’s usually $15-$20 for a day pass. The resorts own the shoreline to access roads but not the water.
Cyrus Resort and Morris Point usually have a great road out of Morris Gap too and further west are Arneson’s, Long Point Resort and there is Babler’s road on the north end of Rocky Point. On the west side of the lake, Springsteel maintains a road too.

Pay the man. It must cost a fortune to keep those roads open.
