Fishing continues to be steady with some hog walleyes reaching over 30″ boated. Lots of fish all along south shore from the gap to Morris Point to Rocky Point.. 15-20 feet of water is seeing great action. Bring lots of bait. Walleyes, sauger, and perch in the mix. Ice fishing looking good with numbers of fish on south shore and in river.
Many walleyes in river and they definitely have the feed bag on. Shiners are still running. Walleyes are in 10-25 feet of water. Jig and a shiner is best tactic with bright colors or glow. Stinger hooks on jigs are helpful. Sturgeon fishing remains on fire as the dinosaurs are feeding.
Up at the Northwest Angle, active walleyes in 10-30′. Jig and a minnow producing limits. Traditional for Lake of the Woods, gold working good when accompanied by a bright color. Areas between Oak and Flag Island, Little Oak Island, and Hay Island continue to be top producing spots. On the Ontario side 30 foot holes near sunken trees or near deep points near islands holding big crappies. Jig and a minnow preferred method. Walleye fishing is crazy good in depths of 15-30 feet near points and in bays. Muskie anglers trolling with large crankbaits in bays and over rocks still producing big fish.
