Sunday afternoon we planed an impromptu trip Monday-Wednesday to LOTW staying at Long Point Resort. The weather was all over the board from heavy south winds to calm to rain storms to windy from the north and then calm. WE got 3-6 hours each day because of travel and weather. Two hook worm harness with just a bead was the best accounting for several walleyes 20-29.5″. This worked near shore and off shore whenever we could see some concentrated fish. Down rigging also worked well in the open basin but the fish were generally smaller. Gold seemed to be the best color with a plain floating #7 rapala trolled at 3 mph. (we got a tip). It caught all sizes of fish. We fished it 30 down over 33 fow. 5 color suffix lead core all the way out with a deep diving husky jerk also worked pretty well. All the fish were very robust and healthy. We enjoyed dated but nice clean cabins at Long Point. The staff and locals were helpful with tips. The logistics and location on the lake were excellent. I’d have no problem recommending this resort to others. Too bad this lake is so far from Cannon Falls. I’d be up there alot more.

Thanks for putting up a report. Sounds like a good time.

We are heading up Sunday and staying until Wednesday. We are staying at Long Point also. I am excited. I will post our results also.

We fished out in 35 feet of water, in the incredibly large basin. Marked fish like crazy, everywhere. Caught a decent amount, but hardly any compared to how many we marked on the locator, fish and bait balls constant. Down riggers the whole time. My first time walleye fishing with them. I seen this on another forum, but it was the real deal, UV pink was the hot color in low light (morning or cloudy). As soon as it clouded up. I switched and I don’t think it was down for a minute before getting hit the first time. Pretty cool. Purple was good and anything with an Orange belly was good also (Thanks for the rusty Crayfish article Joel Nelson). Fish size ranged from little ones to a hand full of 24″‘s biggest was 25″ and plenty of keeper / eater size. Fun place to fish!

Oh yeah, I got be a passenger and fish in a Skeeter WX 2060. What an impressive boat!
