    Who’s been and who’s going??

The Boys are stoked for our trip next week, we’ve spent the day checking our gear (found a couple nicked up leaders), sharpening hooks and upgrading some boat lighting.

All the rods and gear are ready, and the trip can’t come soon enough yay

We’re fishing out of Kewaunee next Wednesday-Sunday over the 4th. If you’re going to be in the area lemme know so we can share reports.

We had a blast last year for their first trip, so much fun seeing them getting their asses kicked by pizzed off kings rotflol

Just got back from port Washington 2 weeks ago, did pretty well down there. We fished Kewaunee last July towards the end of July, they did well over there over the fourth last year. Pretty awesome over there!

My buddy is a full time guide outta Baileys. Says the salmon numbers and size are better than last summer.

Jealous! I need to get over there and do it, been threatening for years. Do you do an airbnb or camp? What rod spread do you typically run?

I got 500 dollars worth of gear bought for a first timer going out of Algoma July 16-21 . Hoping the weather cooperates for a 18 footer . Running a spread of dipseys and boards . Only have 8 spoons and 6 flashers flys Budget fishing ! Could hire a guide but what’s the fun in that .

Need a few rods yet – contemplating running a few catfishing rods I got . Line counters will be restrung walleye line counters with 50 lb braid and lead core setups .

The berkley big game rods work well so I’d imagine that catfish rods will too.

I’ve been slowly working my way into the big water, braid dipseys and 2,4,6 color lead for Superior is what I’m running now. Don’t quite have the time or the confidence to go over to LM, yet.

Just finished a Derby in Port. Was a little lumpy all weekend but Fishing is very good. Seems to be a lot of 20lb-22lb salmon around. Also lots of little kings starting to show up and replace the coho. Kings preferred FF’s Better spoon bite up a little higher for Rainbows, lakers and smaller kings and coho. No color or presentation stood out.

    Good luck

We had our best trip ever June 21-22. 44 fish in 2 days with the biggest at 26 lbs. We’re heading back over July 9-14.

Good Luck! I hope you and the boys get on some big ones.

24# and a #21 are the biggest so far with a lot of fishing left to go!

It’ll be fire and even bigger fish in a couple weeks, we just go now to make a long weekend out of it waytogo

I’ve used Torpedo Weighted Steel in the past, it’s super manageable but it doesn’t dive as deep as copper and the knots can get bulky (elevator knot). Honestly I’d go with leadcore over steel, but copper over leadcore. I love copper for anything more than a five color.

Today was good, went 14/19. Biggest was 21.5# and we lost a monster (high upper twenties for sure). It hit an SWR rigger and got under a 300′ copper and 200′ copper on boards, then surfaced. We managed to get a couple tangles out but had a heart breaker 25′ behind the boat. Biggest salmon I’ve seen in a long time.

Pretty cool side note, the Boys picked up some dying Alewives on the beach and we put them in our wire meat divers…they caught us two fish tonight!!

    We went 16 for 18 today. 2 over 20lbs and a bunch of 3-5ers. 90% spoon bite.

    Similar for us too Dave

Went 21/26 counting shakers between both trips yesterday. It was rough as hell in the afternoon but we ended up crushing a bunch in the last hour and a half in 85-95′. Got 6 big ones, 23# was the heaviest. One triple and two doubles!

I’m 0/3 so far this morning, all three were nice fish. One of them burned me 250′ before getting off.

Oh look, it’s time to start drinking lol

Nice work Bman and boys…spoon painting in their future. Probably more profitable as those things cost me 200$ every time I stop at a tackle shop In door county. Usually only one of them catch fish. jester
Nothing better than a nap in the cubby of a boat on Michigan…

    toast

Bad Toad is my all time LM favorite, RV during the day, standard at low light/dark waytogo

Ended up crushing it again on our afternoon trip. Went 12/15 (counting shakers), biggest was 23.73# and Ben landed his PB steelhead that was 29 3/4″ and 11#

It was pure chaos from 815-930 in 90-115′

SRW riggers, 300′ and 400′ copper were best and pulling spoons
