Its great that the trip was worth it for the fishing, but why not pen a letter to the governors of each of those states with bad highways and let them know how you feel?

The governor’s don’t have much to do with the interstates I don’t think. I think thats all federal funds. Where does the toll money go? That I can’t say. Maybe it’s a shared cost?

The culprit is semi’s. There are 1000’s traveling I-80 every day. I’m sure you noticed that 80 across the bottom of Chicago and around the I-80 truck stop are the worse areas.

BTW, I-40 isn’t a very enjoyable ride either.

i agree with Dutchy……if its an interstate thats the feds!!!!!

regarding writing your leaders………..even IF they do respond its more then likely an aide or some intern down the chain of command.

but i’ve written/emailed them occasionally…….guess just to make me feel like i did something about an issue i had!!!! doah coffee

Where in Nebraska? Have you thought about coming north and taking I-90 ? I agree I-80 is dangerous. And a horses#$%t road, but it is the main line from east to west

90 is no better. I’ve traveled 94 going to Detroit River and 90% of Michigan roads are terrible. The good roads have a patch on a patch on a patch. doah

The stretch of 90 / 94 between Beloit & Madison is like a super hwy now. It won’t last long but it’s really nice for the time being.

I am making the trip a week from tomorrow. Hopefully the weather is good. Smooth roads would be a bonus.

Good luck with the roads. Make you take spinners and crawlers. They are on fire

all roads around detroit are terrible. but in the last 5 years, there has been non stop construction on the major traveling interstates all across the state. I-80 is always under construction as well. but the Semi’s and heavy loads continually pound them to dust and pot holes.

I hear ya. On the way out this year we hit a pothole so big it broke the spare tire stud and the spare tire shot out from under my Lund and went bouncing down the interstate. Had to turn around and play frogger because it was along a very narrow median. Dangerous as hell. There were car/truck parts along this particular stretch of I80 because it was so rough. Illinois is a liberal hell hole.

Just got back from trip. Blew a tire about 50 miles from Port Clinton. Went to tire shop around 10am. We were the 3rd group in that morning with a blow out on 80.

Fishing was good tho. Boating 20plus fish in about 1.5hrs each morning if you found them. Longer if not but still consistent fishing. Most fish were 20″ plus. Biggest 28.5″. Tons of 14″-16″ fish in closer towards shore in the less cleaner water. Lots of trash fish too. Crawlers were best for us. 35-45 fow. Future looks great for Lake Erie walleye numbers going forward.
