Lake cabin rental options for someone with accessibility issues

I have a family member who uses a walker and so needs few steps, big bathroom to wheel the walker in, and level access to lakeshore. Anyone have any ideas of good places to rent?

He is a veteran and I know there are places out there that cater only to veterans. I’m guessing those would be accessible. Otherwise, should I just look for AirBnB/VRBO options that are marked accessible and look through the pictures? From my experience, most typical resort cabins are too small to even consider.

    Appreciate any suggestions.

Not sure what your location is but I would look into Veterans on the Lake up in Ely on Fall lake.

Justin that’s the one that came to mind for me too, I see them advertised in outdoor news a lot.

My neighbor and good buddy Mike runs Time on the Water, which is a veterans based guide service that is designated at getting vets in to cabins and on the water all over mn and Canada. They are a non profit fully paid guides for veterans and first responders. I can hook you up with his direct contact for more information. He knows all the spots for handicap accessible areas for disabled and older veterans.

    That’s awesome he does that.

I have not been to either in a long time so don’t know for sure, but would think large places like Trappers on leech or Maddens on gull would have accessibility.

They are hosting a crappie tournament on Tonka this weekend if interested in meeting the guys. If your a vet or know a vet it is a great opportunity to get in on all inclusive trips that are paid for by donations by guys like most of us.
