I’m looking for a guide in the LaCrosse area to handle a large group (10 to 14 fellas) for a 2022 ice outing focused on perch. Any recommendations are appreciated.
I’m sure there are others but the only one I’m aware of is Mike Mccormick out of La Crosse. You are going to want to hurry as our ice is going very fast – especially with the rain today.
You honestly don’t need a guide unless you want them to outfit you with gear – it is so easy to get on fish in that area. There are numerous “community” holes there, each produce fish. Hit those areas hard and fast, move to stay on schools of perch. Max out your lines with dead sticks/tip downs.
You will likely not catch any walleye through the ice there
Fish during the week and hit early walkable ice – less crowds
I know Jon Borreson is a guide in the area not sure he can handle that large of group but if you book early for next year I am sure he can figure something out.
He has air boats so he can get to a lot of areas maybe others can not>
Here is the truth after a weekend in the community holes in La Crosse. The IDO team, and Gillespie didnt drill these holes or fish in these accessible areas. Mc Cormick is a good guide in the area and can at least get you to lesser impacted areas. Mario DeGuzman, Stoddard, also. The fishing pressure here is unbelievable since the media coverage.
I’m friends with Jon borreson he will be able to handle that big of a group next year as he has a 20’ airboat in the works and he is always on fish just message him.Captain Jon Borreson fishing guide on facebook
