Quit listening to KQ longgggg time ago. Enjoyed some of the characters but Bernard wasn’t one of them. Heard Zepp on a outdoors show a few years ago interviewing BK.

stopped listening to the morning show about 10 years ago due to Bernard. That guy makes the Christmas Grinch look like a saint and he’s a judgmental d*** on top of it. Despite that the show worked well in its heyday and was enjoyable. Who is the new girl they have on the show now? Sometimes I tune in on the drive to work and whenever I hear her I just get annoyed and turn it off.

Agree on that. Quit Barnard back around 1997. He used to be funny with a lot of opinions I’d agreed with. Seems once Howard Stearn got popular, Barnard changed his tune and there were (and must still be) a lot of fans of that bitching, whining all about ME crap out there. I’m not one of them….

Damn shame what they did to Terry. Another reason not to listen.

p.s. If you like the “Classic Rock” format from KQ, tune into the Power Loon (107.5 in the Mille Lacs area) or stream on Iheart Radio. Or go to the power loon dot com and stream from there.

Michelle Tafoya…….remember her from her early days at KFAN with Hartman & Barraro. They called her “limo” and I think of that nickname every time I see her.

When the show was on top of its game back in the late 80s to the mid-90s, it was the funniest show on the air. Talk with Toc, The Chucker, Denny Green’s Rhythm and Wrapup, I’m Naked and Thinking of You, and all the recordings like Leroy Mercer and the Cash Call, it was all funny.

I believe a lot of that had to do with the producer Tony Lee, because soon after he was gone, the show declined rapidly. I quit listening in about 1997, but back when it was funny, it was REALLY funny.

I think Howard Stern coming to market ruined KQ. Before that I thought very funny and enjoyable to listen. Stern changed the humor to 16 year old locker room talk, stopped listening a long time ago. The twins run to the world series really put tommy b on the map, remember the squirrel monkey for each day they were in first. Made you want to tune in.

I listen to the loon when I can’t get the K. They are good, the one in St cloud, brainerd, and bemidji.

In regards to Stern, he didn’t last long and Tommy is still around. That has to say something.

In the area of St Cloud, they have a new station 96.7 The River. Decent 70’s and 80’s music, not necessarily hard rock.

Oh man, I miss the old 96.7 The Rev! Could pick it up at Milly. Blew away all the Metal stations around. Wish 93X would bump it up a notch. peace

Agreed, Jon. I cannot BELIEVE what qualifies as hard rock or even rock nowadays. After the early-mid 2000’s is when I think it really started going downhill. Most of the new stuff they play on 93x sounds like straight pop music.

Hoping and praying TOOL’s new album will be at least a glimmer of their previous albums. Anyways, that should probably be a different thread entirely… coffee

I used to listen to KQ quite a bit in the morning. It kept getting worse and worse, and when they let Brian and Terri go I quit listening almost all together.

    It’s almost unbearable now.

A much funnier group is the 93X morning show. Those guys are a entertaining, and it never gets old.

Much of their show is interacting with listeners (The Brotherhood) and sharing their stories/ideas/opinions (who call or text in and are referred to by their self given name, such as “Garbage Truck Jesus”. Like the station itself, it’s geared more towards the 20-50 year old demographic (which includes myself), but some of the crap they come up with would have had my Grandpa laughing.

I suggest to all of you out there to give them a shot. Listen for five days and you’ll hopefully get into the different personalities on air.

Nick and Josh are the main guys (they’ve been there a lonnnggg time), Ali is the obligatory female character, and last but not least, Rah-Rah-Rah-Ross and Wapel (the punching bags).

They’re a fun group and far more entertaining than the local competition.

The music they are forced to play after the show is marginal for the rest of the day, (way to much Nirvana/Foo Fighters/Chili Peppers), but that’s corporate radio for you…..

What was decent 70’s and 80’s music? At that time, wasn’t some of it considered hard rock?

Aerosmith, Styx, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Boston, REO, Yes, Stones…and however many more?

Or are you referring to the Bangles? jester

You don’t know who killed your Rev do you? The Steel Toe Morning show took Free Beer and hot wings out behind the woodshed and the River is the result. It’s a sad day when I work to far into the city and 101.7 turns into some chanting.

I’ve said it before, iloves the comedic style of Tony cracking jokes and no one acknowledged them like he was a ghost in the room. I kind of felt like I was listening with a buddy cracking jokes they didn’t hear.

Very little Aerosmith, Floyd and Stones, Led or AC/DC…but more Eagles, Boston, REO, Journey, Styx etc… hence not pure Rock, more like soft rock. Tune in, with whats available outside of Sirius, it works in a pinch.

I also caught Barnard on some AM station, sounds like he is giving the boy Andy a BIG headstart push into radio… he is on there also.
