Time to recover some of my freezer space so first batch of Kokanee is going into the smoker for a short nap.

Hi Dave I love smoked anything. They look great! How are they to eat otherwise. its my understanding KOKANEE are land locked sockeye. When we were in Alaska Sockeye (red) salmon were the best of all the different salmon species we tried. minus Silver, as they were not coming in yet so we never got to sample them. Obviously Alaska is probably the primo when it comes to salmon. Im assuming you catch these somewhere in Utah given your location. there are none near me that i’m aware of.

They are the best tasting salmon! We are lucky to have one of the world class Kokanee fisheries in the country. And as if it mattered, they are an absolute blast to catch.
