I just bought a new pair of Striker Ice “Predator” bibs. after I got home I kept finding more features on them so that was cool! One of the things I found was a velcro closure on the inside above the knees and then another inside that giving me excess to the knee padding. Just a semi thin piece of padded material but wondering if anyone has upgraded there padding and if so what did you use?

I usually always wear kneepads on the outside of bibs hopping around. Keeps the knees from getting wet. Any type of hard plastic outer shell to a kneepad works, avoid the fabric ones as they get wet. Water always seems to extend out from the hole and where I typically am kneeling.

I built some a fews year back. Put neoprene in the knees about 1/4″ thick or so. great for kneeling on hard ice and waterproof

I picked up a 1/4″ thick yoga mat at Wal-Mart last night for $15 and cut out new pads. I was impressed that the front facing material in the pocket for the knee pad was made of a heavy plastic. I would compare it to the material you see in the bottom of an inflatable pool.

Added benefit is extra insulation at a contact point.
