I’m Planning a solo Hunting trip in Kinnickinnic State Park, but I just cant seem to find any useful information online about the Whitetail in this state park. I just want to fill up the freezer with meat, but is it worth my time here. I’ll be traveling from Maple Grove MN, and didn’t want to go too far into Wisconsin. I’m thinking I might want to hunt the north west corner right by St.Croix river. Planning to hunt on Nov.24-27. All information is greatly appreciated. Thanks guy!

I used to have a friend that lived next to the park. He had some nice bow deer hunting but opening day of gun was a war zone and all the deer run out of the park shortly thereafter. To go there day 3 and 4 of gun season would probably mean no deer in sight. I could be stretching it a bit but I dont think so. I dont know exactly how they run it now or how many gunners are allowed. Maybe someone else could chime in with some eye opening stats?

    Couple of ideas.

    1) Check out all the public hunting areas in St. Croix county. Especially ones that may be geared for other species such as pheasant or ducks. They might be less traveled during deer season.
    2) I have not read the regs for this year and I know some things have changed, but much of St. Croix county is a metro hunting unit and in the past, has had a longer gun season. You may find some good opportunities after many have hung it up.
    3) The public areas around here are so numerous it’s not even funny. Last year on the last weekend of the season, I had right around 300 acres to myself. After the opening weekend, I think you’ll find many to be deserted. Get one of those atlas’, red cover, and start scouting out those hidden gems.
I think you’ll be disappointed with the pressure in a State Park.
