Back in college we did a field trip of that plant. If I remember correctly it was a supercritical design. Operated at over 3000 psi. No definable boiling phase change due to the high pressure.

I thought they said on the news they were converting from coal to natural gas, did I hear wrong?

You should probably post the entirety of the story if you’re just going to be generic and not give any details. However if you read it, the plant will be closing in 2028 and won’t be converting to NG.

The answer? Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors (LFTR): Energy for the Future. Safe, easy to understand and no radioactive waste.

Why do we have dangerous reactors now? Weapons grade plutonium.
