Update. No contact from the Superstar Parents all week. Intel sources say both the Superstar kids have continued to practice on the B squad traveling team this week, so they haven’t quit. I can only think that maybe some of the parents realized what j@ckasses this little maneuver would make them look like and decided since there are only 3.5 months of the traveling season left, they’d tough it out.
Best solution for all involved because our season is shorter and I don’t need the hassle or the headache.
I have other prolems to deal with. Case in point, a single mom of a team member runs a stopwatch on her kid’s playing time and sending me long texts about how I need to change my “philosophy” to espouse “equal playing time for all”. Just like she did when she coached volleyball at the 10-year-old level…
I’m absolutely not sh!tt!ing you. She sits in the bleechers with a stop watch. She logs her kid’s playing time to the minute and boy did I get a long, long, long email when her kid only got in for 4 minutes. It will surprise nobody to know that he’s the least skilled player on the team and literally arrived at the first practice as a 10-year-old having no idea that you had to dribble while playing basketball…
I think I need to demand a new contract. The school should supply me with a lawyer and a PR front man to deal with parents. The lawyer is only in case I accidentally slip and tell a parent exactly what I think of her.
