Kickers on tiller boats

I’ve been wondering about adding a kicker to an Alumacraft 185 competitor tiller. Anyone with this boat or similar (Lund pro guide) done it? 1. Does it take up too much room in the back of the boat. 2. Are you guys using tiller kickers also? Curious if you would be able to link it to the main tiller so that you could just steer the kicker when you steer the big tiller? That way you don’t have two handles taking up space back there. If so how do you control the throttle? Something like troll master ? (Not real familiar with how trollmaster works) 3. Are you able to put wave wackers on with the kicker back there? If you have a setup like this pictures would be fantastic. Thanks!

I have both a 9.9 kicker and a Vantage on either side of my main motor, with Wave Wackers installed around/between them. This is the 3rd big tiller that I’ve had with both a main and a kicker, lots of benefits in my experience.

I’ve tried linking them and running the throttle with various remotes like Thrustmaster/iTroll, etc. and keep coming back to an extension handle as the best tool for the job…this version with the steering knuckle is great.

What brand and size main motor do you have. Reason I ask was I was looking at getting a kicker but I was able to add a VTS switch to my 90 hp Yamaha tiller and now it trolls down very nicely.

The reason for wanting the kicker would be for musky trolling keeping hours off the main. Fall time on Green Bay can start to accumulate a lot of hours trolling and I would rather them be on a kicker than main motor.

just got this boat this summer wouldn’t be without it. disregard picture not current I first had it on port side and found out I could reach handle moved it to starboard side and can run it with no issues especially if you have the slider seat. If you connect to big motor would steer better but from what I’ve seen you would have to disconnect when making jump to new fishing spot, too much work for me. I just trim big motor up a bit and steers fine If you need anymore info or current pics shoot me a PM
