We are heading to Key Largo mid May. The guys want to spend a day fishing. Preferably going after trophies such as sail fish. Any recommendations of charters to do with?

    Thanks!

Bud N Mary’s isn’t too far. I could give you some names further south. Grouper is open in May. You catch some pretty fun fish reef fishing too.

I would never go through bud and Mary’s again. They are a tourist trap and their guides are not very accommodating to seasoned fisherman.

I don’t know any guys in Largo but that time of year I’d stay inshore and go after big tarpon.

I’d take Matt’s advice on Bud N Mary’s. I’ve never gone through them but driven by a bunch of times. Like I said all my personal recommendations are further south, Islamorada and Marathon.

I am fine with traveling to known guides. Big tarpon sounds appealing. Who do you guys recommend

I’ve been impressed with most any of the guys at Hawks Cay. With Tarpon you’ll generally be fishing smaller boats and near bridges. Two Conchs has always been good to me also and they do reef and offshore trips. PM me if you want specific captain info if your thinking of driving down there.
