Anyone have experience fishing the Kettle River near Sandstone or Banning? Wondering on types of fish available. My parents have a cabin near there and thought it would be a nice river to fish in my kayak.

I used to go there and wade it in Banning Park before I owned any watercraft. A kayak would be perfect. It actually has whitewater that kayakers flock to when the water is high.
I would consider it smallie water with some walleye and pike. Last time I did that I walked into a bee nest on a cliff and got stung many times as I jumped/ran to escape. Ended up in a sling from jumping off a cliff to get away from them. I asked the Rangers to pull out the stingers in my back.
Channel cats, lake sturgeon, redhorse. I believe the Kettle is now included in the statewide catch and release sturgeon season.
I also think the state record lake sturgeon as well as a record redhorse came out of there.
