I guess if it grew out of the earth (banana peels, apple cores, seeds, etc.) I don’t have an issue because it will naturally decompose although it won’t be until spring. Beer cans, cig. butts, bottles, candy wrappers, etc. I have a real issue with that.

Saw a green bay packers edition fish house on the ice yesterday, talk about the kind of garbage people bring on the ice!

Were they trying to push the best tip up?

I somewhat agree. But it doesn’t look clean seeing a bright orange peel on the ice.
When my son needs to stretch his legs, I pay him by the pieces of trash he picks up. I remember last year we were walking out and he was commenting about all the trash a guy had around him and blowing away. You could see on his face that he could hear him as we approached our spot. While I was drilling holes he walked over and gave him a bag and chewed him out. They both cleaned up the trash together. I am sure having a 5 year old chew you out about being a pig will stick with you and we won’t have to worry about him leaving more trash on the ice. (I hope) The only thing I leave on the ice is minnow parts, seeds, and yellow snow.

where are you guys fishing that you can pick up garbage bags of trash on the ice on the daily!!! I rarely ever come across garbage on the ice and if I do it’s usually a few cigarette butts not 5 cases of empty beer, some tiki torches and what’s left of a suckling pig…

There are not full size garbage bags. They are just your average store plastic bag. He won’t go too far away from me, but will hunt around the lake for trash. Most of the time he finds only one thing or nothing. It is just something I do during day light to get a little more time on the ice before he wants to go.

My dog got into someone’s food waste last year. She ended up with bloody diarrhea and I ended up with a vet bill. I suspect chicken bones.

    Cigarette butts are trash too.

Yes and beer cans do not belong in ice holes. Only Buttholes put rubbish in ice holes! Sounds like a good bumper sticker. Epitome of White Trash and other scum. This post struck a nerve. Great post! Isn’t the adage something to the point of “Leave only your footprints”?

If you see plastic…..bags, pop bottles ect. please stop and pick those up. Plastic does not break down and will last long beyond your kids lifetimes.
