Wife convinced me to buy a new to me (2012) Triton 192 Allure (family package). It doesn’t have a keel guard on it and my last glass boat did and it was a nice to know it was there in case you had to beach your boat somewhere less desirable (beaches, small rocks, etc). I won’t be running this thing heavy into rocks, etc. but what is everyone’s thoughts on keel guards?

What company / brand to use? Did you do it yourself or did you have a shop do it?

    Thanks.

I liked the thought of the added protection. It is easy to do yourself. You may have to adjust your front roller to accommodate for the extra thickness added to the keel.

Hamby and have a shop install it. It shouldn’t reach the front roller i wouldn’t think.

    They are worth every dollar.

X2 on the Hamby’s. Did an install myself. Wasn’t too difficult. Just make sure you spend the time on the prep. Also, unroll the product and let it relax 2-3 days so it lays flat before you try to put it on. (Probably try for any of the keel guards out there)
