I always try to do something new each year or something unique. This year I decidea to hunt an Indian Reservation as well as a new state. I headed to Kansas a few weeks back for some Rio Grande action. First morning had three Jakes beating up the decoys but no Gobblers responding. Gobblers had all moved out to open fields with Hens for the Day and we had our work ahead of us. We tried calling to several groups but no takers. Around noon we had two Tom’s isolated and alone and they wanted to play ball. A few subtle purrs and clicks and the two Tom’s came on a 400 yard string to 25 yards to our creek bottom hideout. I wish you all could have been there for the long hike down a kansas creek. 10.5 inch beard inch cutters and a great fan accented this beautiful Kansas Gobb in the afternoon sun. Great hunt and my first tag punched of the 2015 Gobbler season. More stories to come -QB
