Kamik Rubber Boots

Has anyone used the Kamik rubber boots for ice fishing or sitting in a deer stand? The Kamiks get good reviews on Amazon, but it’s hard to know how it would apply to ice fishing. I’ll read a review about how great they are in extreme cold, then find out the reviewer is raking leaves in Georgia or shoveling snow in Missouri – not much of a comparison to sitting on the ice for 8 hours when it’s 15 below.

There are several models, but they all seem similar. I’ve read great things about Muck boots, but the Kamiks are 1/3 the price and look comparable. I really want something that slips on easily, is warm and waterproof, without breaking the bank.

I actually bought the Baffin Titan last year, but had to reform it. I wear a size 14, but it was way too tight and they don’t make a larger size.

That sucks, I really don’t know about the kamiks, should be able to check them out in person at the man mall.

I have owned two pair of Kamik Goliath’s and they were the warmest ice fishing boots I’ve ever owned. All day sits were no problem. They were a bit on the heavy side so hiking would not be easy. Only problem I had is they only lasted about two years each. The rubber rotted at the flex points and they leaded. The last pair was three years ago so this problem may have been resolved now, but I moved on to Baffins and Mucks. Opinion still out on these.

I have worn Kamik Workday 3 boots for my job for twelve years. I would always find myself using them for ice fishing. I have owned lots of other boots and even two other styles of Kamiks. Last year I bought a pair of Workday 3’s exclusively for ice fishing. They are full rubber with a steel toe. The steel toe does not effect my toes getting cold at all and I really like having it when kicking ice chunks. These boots are not too hot like some and if I feel I need more warmth I just wear wool socks instead of just a sock liner. I do add an extra Kamik insole that feels great on the foot and fills up some space. What I really love about these boots is the height and size of top. My bibs fit over the boot perfect which isn’t the case with some. Only boots I’ll ever wear ice fishing. Been through and looked at quite a few.

Well I just lucked out big time. There was a pair of Muck Arctic Pros on Amazon for $90. Hopefully they live up to the hype.

Personally on really cold days, nothing beats my cabelas predator extremes. I have the Arctic pros but wasn’t too impressed even with a liner and wool socks, just my opinion.

I got the Muck brand Arctic Pro a year ago for a gift and love them. My wife had to get a pair also after trying them. I had a heavy pair of Rocky’s and these blow them away.

That’s good to hear. I received them earlier this week and they are very comfortable. Almost as important is they slip on and of very easily. Time will tell if they’re warm enough.

I have mucks but my next pair will be bogs… Honestly socks have as much to do with warmth and comfort as the boots. Cheap socks = cold feet. Throw a piece of 3/4″ styrofoam in your sled. Keep your feet off the ice when sitting.
