    Hi,

A buddy and myself are going to be launching and island camping up around that way this weekend. I have never launched up there, nor been on the river in that area, so I am wondering if anyone is familiar with the ramp/water conditions right now?

I live in Fridley, and have been on the river in that area quite a bit, so I am familiar with low water conditions on the upper Miss.

    Thanks!

Any good fishing happening in that area? Havent been to the area in some time, been more around Boom island up to Camden for me this year.

Not so good this year, so my fishing has been more on the Minnesota.

I was just wondering if anyone had been out up by Otsego recently and had the river conditions around that area.

I took a ride from anoka to the south end of elk river last Monday and it was starting to get shallow enough to stop most prop boats. All the small rapids/ riffles were starting to show. Might head back up that way this week after work.

Google maps using the satellite view is always one of the first things I look at when trying a new stretch of river that I am unsure about. Next would be checking water levels on the DNR site. With the rain over the weekend I would guess it will be on the rise this week.

Yeah, that’s why I asked if anyone had recent firsthand knowledge of the river. The summer satellite view looks pretty dang shallow. 16′ prop boat with guys and camping gear might not be a good idea in shallow water, rocks, etc.

The Croix below Taylors falls is easy to navigate with the water back up. The NPS requires a free camping permit north of the high bridge. Plenty of decent sites one that stretch.
