Anyone have any historical guesses or insider info on when to get a good deal on an 8″ kdrill for this season? Got my milwuakee this summer and have loved it – time for the auger.

The last two years Joe’s had them for $40 off in November. They kept that price until they sold out. I paid $209 for the 8″. I would call and ask them when they will hit the floor. They had some ice stuff out last week.
October 11, 2017 at 11:14 am #1720222Happened to be in the neighborhood – Joes just put them out. $209 for an 8″, $226 out the door. There was a glitch that they rang up as $219 up front, but they gave me mine at $209.
The floats are larger this year, perhaps a response to “kdrill does not float!”?

X2 and bring cash

Yes on the cash.
I ALWAYS ask and receive a discount when paying with cash for big ticket items. Retailers price goods assuming customers pay with a card and add the card fee to the price of goods.
October 11, 2017 at 9:05 pm #1720421Not to hijack my own thread, but how good are the deals at the show? I have only gone once, and with the price of admission only got a $12 bait puck and looking at neat stuff. I would be surprised if there were 8″ k drills at $209 minus $12.
I heard that catch cover sells blemished/overstock – maybe that is worth it?
October 12, 2017 at 9:37 am #1720519I got a pretty good discount on Striker bibs & jacket. Around 30% if I remember.

October 12, 2017 at 4:16 pm #1720625I was at fleet farm and they were $199
Which size drill? I’m guessing 6″ at that price. I keep popping into the Hudson FF regularly and have yet to see them on the shelves.

I stopped by Joe’s today based on the suggestion in this thread, and the 8″ were back up to $249.95. Or at least that was the sticker on them and what the guy in the department said.

I don’t remember if it was 6 or 8. I stood there looking at them and didn’t look at the size. Once I saw I needed a new 1/2 inch drill I lost interest. Plus I needed to get my fence stain and go.

[/quote]Always have them check them in the computer. Stickers were $249 and i joked “when is the sale?” He scanned it and it was $209. Purchased 10/11.
I remeber seeing 6″ for $179 at joes last year. If these turn out as good as people claim i might sell the jiffy 2stroke and get a 6.
October 12, 2017 at 9:23 pm #1720693If I recall the last few years correctly Roger doesn’t work the shows, so definitely stop by the store. No matter the discount at the show, you can’t beat a slow store with Roger to spend your lunch hour and then some.
October 12, 2017 at 9:36 pm #1720699If Roger is the old bald guy i would spend another $20 just to listen to his passion and excitement about family/fishing.

Yep
October 12, 2017 at 10:01 pm #1720702I worked there back in the day for a couple years in the ski department shortly after they moved to the new location…Roger is good stuff. Super friendly and stories for days.
Had he been there today, it wouldn’t have been an issue. I was disappointed by the number of employees wondering around aimlessly like zombies pretending to be stocking shelves. Those people wouldn’t have lasted long when I worked there.
October 13, 2017 at 1:49 pm #1720816don’t want to hi-jack the thread but how many holes can you drill on average with one of these with an 8″ bit?

NVM. found the answer on the interwebs. Thanks. Interesting setup. Wonder how this would compare to using a drill with a Nils
October 13, 2017 at 2:30 pm #1720833Crappie- what kind of numbers did you find? I’ve heard everything for high 300’s to 600″. Curious myself as I’m debating switching from my 6″ to the 8″ with my Fuel M18 and a 9ah battery.

I watched a few videos including this one and read through the comments.
Also this site had some solid info
“The Milwaukee M-18 fuel series drill that comes with the package directly from ****************** provides 20 holes in 24 inches of ice. The drill comes with two of these batteries, which totals 960 inches of ice. Each battery only takes 40-50 minutes to recharge. For the 2016 season Dewalt and Milwaukee have come out with a 9ah super capacity battery. This battery is capable of drilling through 1,440 inches of ice alone. That’s 120 holes in a foot of ice! If you purchase another brand drill, make sure you are running a minimum of a 3.0ah lithium battery or higher. I would highly suggest a Milwaukee or Dewalt drill from our testing as these drills greatly out-performed the competition.”
October 13, 2017 at 3:21 pm #1720854Good stuff, thanks.
So someone let me know if this math is legit. The guy in the video drilled 345″ on a 5ah battery. So, 345″ / 5ah = 69a Can I break it down like that?
If so, 69a * 9ah battery would theoretically drill somewhere around 621″ of ice??
October 13, 2017 at 9:33 pm #1720909I think you have to account for the drill too – dewalt might differ from mikwaukee.
October 18, 2017 at 5:22 pm #1721769sale on Milwaukee M18 Fuel Hammer Drill Kit at Amazon right now. $239
Kevin YoppPosts: 192October 19, 2017 at 9:41 am #1721860Just saw that reconditioned kdrills were available through the vexilar online store … worth a look!
October 20, 2017 at 10:30 am #1722033FYI, CPO Outlets has great deals on the Milwaukee stuff. They have reconditioned, too. I got a reconditioned Milwaukee 18v hammer drill/impact driver combo with two 5ah batteries for $249 with no tax and free shipping. I’ve purchased from CPO in the past with good results.
October 21, 2017 at 3:43 pm #1722246Just got back from Joe’s Sporting Goods…they have their Ice Expo today. Eskimo and Otters on display in the parking lot and much of their ice related gear is 20% off in the store.
K-Drills were listed at $199 and $219.
Striker stuff is 20% off…grabbed myself a Predator coat and took advantage of the no sales tax in MN.
Also, my son and I got to meet Will. Just as nice of a guy as you expect him to be from the shows!
November 11, 2017 at 3:05 pm #1727255Reeds is doing 20% off through 11/11. Brings the 8″ down to $199 and free shipping. Use code VD2017.
November 11, 2017 at 7:00 pm #1727294Got my Kdrill last year at the St Paul show for $200 cash out the door. Couldn’t be happier and my Jiffy propane now sits in the garage collecting dust. Unless my Son comes over (which is often) and snags it for the season. Which is no biggie since i shaved about 30lbs off of lugging around an auger
