Those that are using the k- Drill, What drill are you using with it? How many holes can you get per battery. I have a few friends who bought the K-drill and are happy with the way the auger cuts but can’t get many holes out of a battery. Most are of my research is coming up with the Milwaukee m18 drill to buy to use with it. By the time you get a m18 with a extra battery and charger and the K-drill you will be into the setup for near 600.00. I like the concept but not sure I like it 600.00 worth. Just curious if there is something else a little cheaper on the drill side that will get the job done.

You can’t beat that Milwaukee drill for building decks and dear stands during the non ice season, not to mention how handy it comes in when building your smitty sled, or mixing paint when finishing your man cave…which you probably used to screw the drywall to the studs….get the point.

If you are using a 5″ or 6″ you could maybe get by with a lesser torque drill but an 8″ needs a brushless high torque drill like the fuel…
Also you need at least 4amp/hour batteries,5 amp or higher will give you more holes also…..

Cracks me up. I was going to buy a fuel Milwaukee for my Christmas present. Stopped at Northern last Thursday and they were out. Said people were snatching them up for ice fishing.

Sales person said they were watching a youtube video in the store of someone drilling holes. They were special ordering drills for people and shipping them to their houses. D

Looked like I got the last hammer drill from Home Depot Burnsville last week. Same price as Northern by the way.

i have a milwaukee and kdrill but to be honest, its overkill.

i have 1 buddy that uses his 18v nicad xrp dewalt hammer drill and a 6″ lazer. he’s used that combo to drill thousands of holes over the past 3 years. the drill is still his like work drill too. he got about 150=200″ of ice out of 1 battery.

last year on the ice i saw a guy told me he was on year 2 of his 50 dollar harbor freight lithium drill. first year with a nils and last year with a kdrill. he pounded at least 20 holes on 1 battery while we were there. no telling how mnay he had drilled before and after we left.

all that to say any drill will probably work. 8″ bits take a bit more torque in my mind but in the end, any drill can burn up. some have a higher risk than others but don’t be afraid to not buy high end brushless drills. smaller batteries = less holes. but i know a lot of guys who basically drill 4 holes and are done. if you drill 100’s of holes an outing, get bigger batteries and consider a nicer drill.
