I know this topic has been going around but I think its time to try the K-drill teamed with a Milwaukee. I’m going to get the 8″. My question is what model number Milwaukee?? Thank you.

You can go here to get the right model, plus get a free battery. You can get the set for 10 less at home depot, but without the free $129 battery. I got mine last week!
December 3, 2016 at 11:14 am #1654323I attached a picture of the Milwaukee fuel drill info. I use this paired with an 8″ Kdrill and it works great!

December 3, 2016 at 3:12 pm #1654349I saw at least 5 people buying K-drills at the Ice show in the 45 min Thorne Bros line…. not sure on the drill though.
December 3, 2016 at 6:26 pm #1654373Thanks guys, I made my order today. Looking forward to using it to check early ice among other uses.
December 3, 2016 at 7:21 pm #1654379I just bought a K-Drill today and will try it with a Dewalt XR 20V 1/2″ hammer drill. I have been using the Dewalt drills for my work and really like them. I happen to have about 6 of them on hand so it only makes sense to try one of them first before buying the Milwaukee.
The K-Drill will replace my Ion auger if it passes the test. I predict it will save around 8-10 pounds of weight over the Ion. Makes a big difference when you have to hike out to your fishing spots vs. driving. Now if we could just get some ice to form!
Fishwater83Posts: 117December 3, 2016 at 8:31 pm #1654393I bought the k-drill 8″ and the Milwaukee fuel hammer-drill w the 5ah lithium red battery. I’ve never used the setup or seen it in action but the ion I returned was not great and had a delay between pulling the trigger and starting to cut. I’m stoked for the weight I shed as well, hopefully works out.
December 4, 2016 at 9:14 am #1654440You guys are gonna love that M18 set up !! I run one with a Nils 6″ bit, last year it was plain amazing. I’m sure it will be with the K drill too !!
castle-rock-clownPosts: 2596December 4, 2016 at 7:47 pm #1654560Funny thing is I bought an 8″ K-Drill and never used it with my Milwaukee drill driver. It came with an adapter and I installed it on my Strikemaster Pro powerhead. Works amazing. I sold the 8″ Lazer drill along with an Eskimo Z71 powerhead… that was a nice setup except when it came to opening old holes which I do a lot since I’m terribly lazy to find my own fish, and fish other people’s spots.
Tim WatsonPosts: 101December 6, 2016 at 4:16 pm #1655034Anyone using a non brushless 18V Dewalt hammerdrill on a K Drill? I have a brand new Dewalt 18v hammerdrill and I want to buy the 8″ K Drill. Thoughts?
Thanks
December 6, 2016 at 4:36 pm #1655047Had I not purchased an ion last year I would probably get this setup. For now I am still very happy with the weight savings compared to my gas augers and the quietness of electric. I never thought augers would evolve so much but they sure have and for the better.
castle-rock-clownPosts: 2596December 6, 2016 at 5:06 pm #1655055I heard about them, but had just seen them at Blaine’s Farm and Fleet today. It’s a M18 red lithium ion Milwaukee tool battery…9, yes I said 9 amp hour battery. It big both in size and price, $200 bucks.
December 6, 2016 at 7:37 pm #1655085Had my buddy pick up a kdrill at the ice show for me. Got a great deal on it but when I looked at it after I got it I question the durability of the flights. The website says they are a composite but they look plastic to me.
Makes me nerovousFishwater83Posts: 117December 6, 2016 at 10:03 pm #1655106the flights are replaceable and it doesn’t sound like many people have had issues with them but I’m excited to try it.
Lawrence LuomaPosts: 51December 7, 2016 at 11:52 am #1655208If you can find a DeWalt XR 20v DCD996 or DCD995 you’ll get about 10-15 more holes per 5ah battery. With the said buy what ever DeWalt XR (995,996) or Fuel (2703-22) you find on sale.
Tim WatsonPosts: 101December 7, 2016 at 12:34 pm #1655216Thanks for your response Lawrence. I do currently own a 1 year old Dewalt XRP DCD 950 KX. I’m having trouble getting any responses as to whether this model would be sufficient for the 8″ K-Drill. Based on your comments it sounds like it would be under powered?
castle-rock-clownPosts: 2596December 7, 2016 at 10:14 pm #1655381All the plastic flights do is evacuate the freshly shaved ice. They don’t have to be made out of space age titainium alloy…don’t loose any sleep over it.

Thanks for the tip. I just ordered one. I actually plan to try it for my business first. We wear out the top of the line Dewalts in 6 months or less. I’m curious how the Milwaukees will compare. Price is not much different between the two. I will also compare the Dewalt to the Milwaukee on my new K-Drill and report back once we have ice to test it on. I did notice the these have a 5 year warranty vs. the Dewalt 3 year, which is intriguing.
Garrett Van GordenPosts: 27December 8, 2016 at 8:43 am #1655458Composite means plastic that is filled or blended with another material. Likely its fiberglass filled Nylon. Obviously not as durable as steel but like everything you have to take care of it.
December 8, 2016 at 12:33 pm #1655564They key is the torque number, with the K Drill or any auger. 6″ you should be fine with 650# Torque. 8″ I would want 750+ – The reason the M18 Fuel Drill is recommended is for 1200# of torque and the long life 5.0ah batteries that have performed well in cold.
I know several guys who have run Ridgid X4 and X5s for the lifetime warranty and as long as you are following the ratings above you should be good to go. 8″ will kill a lot of drills if they don’t have enough power

Yes, I would only suggest the DCD995/DCD996 or Fuel for best results.
