Today the Canadian government denied the Blue Jays permission to play MBL games in Toronto. This should seal the fate of anybody hoping to do a Canadian fishing trip this year.

If the states (people) don’t take this Pandemic more seriously we may not get into Canada next year either.

Maybe Lake Winnipeg will get a little breather now.

    Those Canucks aren’t playing around.

Looks like the Jays may be playing home games in Buffalo, NY, home of their Triple-A affiliate, the Buffalo Bison.

I’m sure the Jays appreciate being given 6 days notice by the city of Toronto.

Where are the Toronto Bluejays from? Toronto? I assume they want no visiting teams into their country? Ban them from the US as well? There are no spectators, correct?

I would guess Canada/Toronto was concerned about the team going to the US and back a whole bunch of times as well as visiting teams. That is probably why they are fine with the NHL being there. Those players aren’t coming and going. Could also be because that is hockey, wouldn’t rule that out. They definitely should have given them more notice though

Buffalo & Toronto aren’t that far apart I don’t think so the 6 days isn’t a big deal.

The Canadian Government is doing the right thing.

Politicians restricting the free movement of peaceful people is never the right thing.

So you are in favor or protecting the few at the expense of many?

How does this differ from opening the borders in the United States? You are ok with wide open borders and airports?

Do the people you normally talk to fall for this kind of nonsense?

Or should I just stoop to that level and reply in kind by asking when did you stop beating your wife?

No. I won’t. That would be ignorant of me.

You are ok with wide open borders and airports?

Yes. I’ll try not to stutter. Politicians restricting the free movement of peaceful people is never the right thing.

Canada is a sovereign nation.I.t has the right to do what it believes is in the best interests of its citizens. So far it has managed to contain the worst of covid. That is more than can be said of my country. And yes we all have rights that are not to be abridged as detailed in the Constitution and law but the social compact also says some of your rights end where they infringe on mine. Despite the first amendment we don’t have a right to yell fire in the theatre unless there is a fire

I wholeheartedly agree. On many things even of disparate viewpoint its always best to find some ground for agreement. Thanks and have a good evening!

The difference between baseball and hockey is that baseball is playing their games at their home stadiums and traveling to play road games too, albeit more locally rather than cross-country. Hockey is being played in 2 host hub cities and the players are staying there until their team is eliminated or someone wins the Stanley cup. There will not be fans present at any venue.

The blue jays have not indicated what they plan to do next. They are looking at playing at their AAA affiliate in Buffalo but I guess the park there isn’t up to MLB standards. So they are considering their spring training facility in Tampa but cases are exploding there now.
