I was just thinking about all the different ice sonars and realized humminbird, lowrance, and garmin all have ice units, but why has Marcum never entered the open water sonar unit? Seems odd

Technically they do…just like vexilar, they have both ice and open water transducers.

Because the technology that Humminbird, Lowrance, Garmin, and such has developed is leaps and bounds above what Marcum has.

I run my LX7 on my boat and I strongly feel that it is a better open water unit than it is a hardwater unit…and I love it as a hardwater unit.
