So. I’m waiting for my 2020 Alumacraft 185 Competitor Sport. Evinrude 175 G2. Top speed anyone?

According to the commercials, 70-75 mph mrgreen

With zero experience with that combination, my total guess would be 52mph +/- 3mph trimmed up at WOT. Obviously a lot depends on the prop and load.

It’s not a super heavy boat, so it should do pretty well with a 175+

I could tickle 49.9mph with a 186 Tyee GL and a 175 V-rod under perfect conditions (light load, low fuel, some chop on the water)

Are there any test reports out there for it?

My 18 ft fiberglass Nitro does 50 with a 125 so I’d bet a tin boat with a 175 on it would pass 50 easy.

Nitro has one of the fastest hulls out there.
    Your 125 isn’t a 2+2 is it?
Had one on my Nitro the one year I owned that boat. Hated the motor except for the one day it ran right smirk then it was a blast. Loved the boat though. grin

I would guess mid 50’s on the AlumaCraft with a 175.

My 18′ Pro V with 175 Verado has top out at 58. That is with perfect conditions. No wind, low fuel, just me in the boat, trimmed just right. That was also when it was closer to new. It is now 12 years old and has a few dings in the prop…can’t get there anymore.

    Great boat!

It is so rare to have the combination of just you on board, flat water, low fuel, and no gear to truly get a perfect top end speed. I’d assume with a full tank, another angler, gear, 4 batteries, etc. you should still hit 50mph.

It’s not a heavy boat per se, but they do ride fairly tall in the water with their full windshield and have a nice wide beam that may make anything above the low 50’s pretty tough.

Had a 2007 Alumacraft 175, with a 150 ETec, and would do 56 GPS. It was fast, till the engine shortly went south. Lost 3 mph, and dealer and factory rep were never able to get it back to what it was. Not only did I loose speed, but engine would just shut down, and not start up for 15-30 minutes, when ever it felt like, with no codes thrown. Had to trade the boat in to get rid of it. ETec and my dealer hung me out to dry, I’ll never have another boat with an ETec. There are people that love ETec’s, and if you have a good one, that’s great, but when you have a lemon, and they refuse to fix or replace it, it’s time to move on to a dependable engine and never look back. Screw me once, you don’t get a second chance. ETec’s long warranty’s are meaningless, if they don’t actually fix it. Imight add that the second time that we had the factory rep working on my engine, and was unable to resolve it, my dealer told the rep they needed to just give me a new engine, as they were unable to fix it. Factory reps response was no.

    Butt naked, low fuel, 59.5mph.

And you’ll spend years and thousands on props and jackplates to get you to the magic 60, but come up short.

Full spandex body suit and a tear drop helmet I think 60 is doable.

Gotta shave all body hair, too.

    I’ve got a 2012 Lund 1850 Tyee with a 175 Verado, standard aluminum prop.
Fastest I’ve ever had it was 51.2 on a perfect day up on Rainy (thus the aluminum prop )
The Tyee is a bit heavier than yours, so I’d guess 53-54 out of the box, a little more if you run stainless.

Agree on the mid 50’s top end. The 175 is more than enough motor for that boat. Personally think it is probably too much motor for that boat. Not built for speed.
