On a lake here in SE Wisconsin I have started to see the local police spending time on the popular lakes and handing out littering tickets. They also got quite a few DUIs while out there. This would be probably the best solution to the problem that I’ve seen. Once word gets out that the cops are hanging out on the lake it’ll clear out pretty damn quick. Once the weekend party crowd started getting busted the lake seen marked improvement. The drawback is the local police are being taken away from other duties.

I would think the trash fee on red should be included in the road fee. Charge more if you have to, but provide a service, not part of one.

The big difference between the comparison of open water vs ice fisherman is the class of people that can just walk out on a frozen lake. A person that has to spend thousands to get out in a boat is totally different than some real prizes that can just grab a 5 gallon bucket and a case of beer and walk out on the ice then leave everything out there when their drunk.

I know this post was well-intended, but it’s not really attended for members here. It’s for all the other people going out on the ice. We all know the types.

As for Red charging, I thought I heard that on LOTW, the city or county or something pays for the dumpsters at each access during the winter. Or maybe the resorts all get together and pay for them. Something like that. I think the same should happen here. Or add a buck to the road access fee or something.
