Started getting sick last Sunday. Had a slight fever and a dry throat. Monday came along, woke up and had a slight fever. Took some drugs and that knocked out the fever but throat was a little scratchy. Monday evening arrives and I have a full on fever that the drugs aren’t touching. Well I should probably get tested. Tuesday I get tested, PCR only. By this time I have a severe sore throat, cough, and fever. Results Wednesday come back “inconclusive”. Thursday get tested again, positive. Pretty much figured that. Here it is eary sunday morning I still have a severe sore throat. Nothing seems to work. I am dehydrated and weight is way down because of the pain to eat and drink. Incredible is all I can say. I even got strep tested because that is the only thing that has come close to this kind of pain before. That was negative.

Most I can sleep for is about an hour at a time. There is just much drainage in my throat. The first couple nights of sleeping saw me waking up to my clothes being soaked through with sweat, and that was just about an hour of sleep.

Anyway, just needed to vent. I am so over this sore throat thing. I just want to chug a glass of cold water lol

Our go to is chunk the breast, dust with flour and seasonings. Then sauté in a pan. Pheasant McNuggets if you will. When we get a bunch of legs. Cook and pull the meat for pheasant and noodle casserole. But the best one I’ve ever eaten. We were cooking 2 hogs for my wedding reception about 4:00 am. We may or may not have already started drinking. As we were stuffing them with apples and onions. One of my buddies asked if I wanted to put in anything else, before he wired it shut. Went to the basement and grabbed my last 3 pheasants and stuffed them in up by the loins. By far the best, most moist pheasants I’ve ever eaten. but will admit. That’s a lot to go through to cook a pheasant. But keep in mind if you ever roast a hog.

I went through it a few weeks ago. Fever for 2 days maybe 3. Cold sweats, soar throat, congested like no other.
Congestion lasted 2 weeks everything else was gone in 2 or 3 days. Slight lingering head ache. Small inconvenience but really not that bad. I never get sick, never get the flu but do get minor colds. So it was annoying but not that bad.
    Hope you feel better soon.

I’m sorry to hear you’re suffering. It’s another reminder for us to be thankful for the good health we take for granted. Get well soon!

Sudafed is helpful with the nasal congestion. When I had the Chinese virus in December I was plugged up for a couple weeks. It affected my sleeping habits greatly, but Sudafed does help.

You need to get it at the pharmacy and sign for it because they think meth heads use it.

It just kind of has to run its course too. Be glad it’s not worse.

Had it going on Friday night, stuffy head, wake up in a puddle of sweat, head ache, stomach ache.

Actually a few Hot Toddy’s put me on the road to recovery.

BTW – tested negatory twice with the at home test and I never have cooked a whole hog.

Something that has really helped is good long steamy hot showers. Heat and steam are both beneficial to respiratory illnesses. A sauna would be top notch, but I don’t own one.

No hogs were smoked or used in my healing.

Hot brandy with honey and a long hot bath. Grampa taught us that when we were young. Or hot toddy like epg said.

When I worked at a big box store it was fairly common for a couple 20 somethings to come in and buy a bunk of denatured alcohol and a bunk of lacquer thinner.

I was lucky and was only stuffed up for 3 days and only had a fever on the middle day. Tested + on a home test almost as soon as I put the swab in the slot.

My sore throat lasted 3 days. It went away as fast as it started. It was intense though.

It is funny how differently this all effects people. Sleeping upright and Sudafed like some people have mentioned have been my best friends. Thanks everyone and stay safe!!

Huh. I must be really lucky. As a rule I try to be more proactive than reactive to life’s foreseeable situations. I got vaxed and boosted and have been in close contact with a few people that were tested and showed positive and contact traced back to me. As for me, no signs, no symptoms, no positive tests, no misery. In baseball that’s batting a 1000.

You know, you could be an A-symptomatic type, such as 40.5% of all confirmed cases…. Vaccine/booster/kryptonite, you may have never gotten sick! waytogo

Regardless, I’ve been tested occasionally especially after being informed I was in close contact and never got a positive result. I will do whatever it takes to not be admitted to a hospital let alone be put on a ventilator. I know first hand how that feels after my open heart surgery 10 years ago. I also don’t want the “long haulers” ailments that some survivors of the virus are experiencing. Imagine all the people that will claim disability post Covid claiming long hauler syndrome that will appear over the foreseeable future. The ramifications of this virus are just starting.

I can just as easily imagine future disability claims because of the vax. We’ll all find out together.

Wow! You must have a really active imagination!

I know right? Like for some people it’s just a minor cold. And then there’s the millions of people who it straight up kills. Wish there was something out there that would prevent severe cases and hospitalization!

Sarcastic and/or comedic on the govt part? Sure. On the long term effects of the shot? They don’t know that any more than long term effects of virus yet. The only certainty is we will.

Neti pot for nasal congestion. Be aware that many of the nasal decongestants can raise your blood pressure. It could be a bad combination for some.

Afrin and the other knock off nasal sprays contain Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride which is the active ingredient. They all say not to use for 3 consecutive days right on the label too. I asked the pharmacist why this is and she said that it can actually make your congestion worse if you do that. I also asked how many days I should wait before I can use it again and she said I should wait at least 3 more days before I use it again.

Afrin is like snortin a Tony Montana size line of booger sugar. In 3 days when you try to stop your sinuses get stuffed to the hilt then you’ll be reaching for the Afrin again. If you can get off it you’ll suffer a good 24 hours before you straighten out again.
IMHO – You really are better off just struggling with congestion until it works it’s way through.

Hahaha. Wasn’t it you that recommended the Navage Nasal Cleaning Device the last time this came up?

castle-rock-clown, what kind of test. PCR tests are the most sensitive. At home tests have more false positives and false negatives.

Why not just leave CRC alone. He got vaxxed hasn’t been sick. Move on who cares. It goes both ways.
Starting to get sick of both sides arguments.
