Camped solo at Windigo- which is a great site. Coyotes were howling, otters, beavers, loons and deer all made appearances at or near my camp. It was a great weekend.
Fished the west and northwest end of the lake the entire trip.
There were LOTS of boats in the area. Most were slow trolling live bait rigs or drifting Lindy rigs in 12-25 fow mud flats. Most of them were hiding from the wind behind islands and in bays. Saw a couple people catch a few here and there.
Water temps were 59-64
Air temp was 37-74
I avoided the crowds, as usual and did fairly well doing so. In the mornings through midday I found agressive eyes in 15 fow on stone in very windblown midlake areas. Small suckers worked best.
In the evenings, very shallow rocky flats- 3-5 fow casting 4″ paddle tails
All walleye were between 18.5-25″ and super fat.
Got a few nice sauger, more northerns than I could count and only 1 smallie (just couldn’t seem to find them!)
All fish were returned to the lake, and getting ready for me to catch them again in a few months. Can’t wait!!!
