If you have a boat and know the river or are a law officer or both – Make a difference and please consider being a part of this fun tournament.

Many of the youth will be fishing for their first time and not have had the chance to fish until now! One nice fish and the thrill it brings is all it takes to make an angler for life!

This is also about getting youth face time with law officers while fishing…

    Briefly ..
Boat Teams (You and a buddy) are paired with two youth, or an officer or community leader and a youth the morning of the event to form a team of four.

There will be two winning teams at the weigh in, but this day is about taking some 50 youth fishing! Plus building relationships in our communities.

Please visit taketheneighborhoodfishing.org for full details. Register online on this site.

    Quick schedule:

Participating youth and law officers arrive at the staging area before 7:00 am.

Boat teams (you and your buddy) will already be in the water and making way to Beanies.7am.

Shuttles will carry youth and law officers to Beanies to be paired with a boat team to make a newly formed team of four.

    Fishing from 8:00 to 12:00pm

“Weigh-in” will be held at Beanies Marina at 12:00 noon. The event will likely be walleye stringer of six and biggest sheepshead!!!!

12:30 lunch back at staging area -Shepherd of the Valley – and done.

    FAQ:
A boat team can launch at Beanies or wherever they want. i.e Hudson, Bayport, etc..

There is no entry fee! The SafeCity Project is an urban ministry in the Twin Cities that is a real concrete tangible force to better people lives – they fight sex trafficking, addictions, and mentor. This is an opportunity to find a sponsor and ask them to support your kids day tourney efforts.

Easy to do. Call a potential sponsor, tell them about your efforts to help kids and support law officers. Email them this link: If they say yes, fantastic! If no… you tried. We still want you to be in the event.

    Hello.

If you are planning on attending this event please register so we can get a head count.

The number of kids on the water is directly related to how many boat teams sign up.

Please help. there is no fee, no money requirements at all.

The smiles on these kids faces was priceless last year!

    Have a good one!!

Turk, This sounds like an awesome event. I look forward to participating in it. My first mate is going to be Mr John Rubenbauer. I just hope he doesn’t have any open warrants by June 2. -)

With Beanies having limited spots this year for parking are they making exceptions for the tourney? Better to play it safe and launch elsewhere?

Tried calling them couple times and cant get through.

park at Lakefront park on the sconnie side. 12 bucks for non residents of Hudson. windmill in afton is $20.00 I believe. lakefront should be open unless we get hammered with rain the next couple of weeks.

Phenomenal. Fishing was great for our boat and the kids as usual were kind, respectful, and very impressive in how they learn in a short amount of time how to fish!

Rain held off until 11 or so, right at the end it came down good but it wasn’t a miserable rain, it was a this is gonna make a good story kind of rain.

John and Turk got something real special going on here.

One of the young ladies in my boat caught a 19 1/2″ smallie!

It was great to meet you at the landing Nick. We caught quite a few fish but couldn’t find a walleye yesterday. I agree this is a very cool event. We had a 15 year old girl in my boat. She made a comment to my partner that she had never been in a boat as FANCY as mine. My boat is a 1996 Lund pro v. Not what I would consider fancy but it puts things in perspective.

Sheepers were hot and heavy to my boat. Good sized one also. Fun watching the kids battle them in.
Too bad about the rain towards the end but a great event. Sign me up for next year.

I just wanted to echo, that this event was great.

It is an event where (this is odd..), but when you give your time – you personally get back way more!??? A true win – win.

So nice to see Bzzsaw, Nick, SteveO, TimJ, and Cougereye (Partner M. Murphy too)!

    We needed all the boats.

TimJ’s friend – Damien Dumonceaux – came from St. Cloud, and We also had a Ranger Pro come from WI Dells!

    Thanks also:
to Team Jeff S. and Jeff they were the SCVWL representatives – did well.

    Enjoy summer fishing all!
