jointed flicker shads

anyone put bigger treble hooks on these and do they still run ok and catch fish? i need to replace a lot of them and berkley says they have to be # 6. anyone run #4 and do they still work ?

I’d test a couple but I think the hooks will foul. I tried upping the size on Rapala JSR’s and couldn’t do it.

You may be able to run a larger on the front and smaller on the back though. I never tried that.

I tried it once thinking it may increase my hookup rate, AND mostly because it was the size I had on hand. They took more constant tuning with the increase in hook size. Not worth it in my opinion.

Most baits come with hooks sized the way they are for a reason. Stick with what came on the lure.
