It’s about time. Every time I drive over the Platte at Gretna it make me mad that all that water is just going by.

It’s a day-by-day, hour-by-hour deal, so it could stop at anytime. But hopefully all the wetness out west will help it stay flowing for a while.

With all the rain out west, will they put more water into Elwood?

The water is rolling in as we speak, or, uh….as I type. Just to clarify: it’s gravity feed, and no pumps are being turned on (yet, anyway). I doubt it’ll get high enough to have to turn the pumps on, but that would truly be awesome if it was. They can still gravity feed many feet of water into that lake, it’s so low. Who knows how long it’ll run, but I’m hoping with all this water they’ll keep it going for another week or so. That would ROCK!!

Last I knew it was still going in a few days ago. But I know it’ll be shut off real soon, if it’s not already.

Yup, some more rain would be great!

It would have to take a real load of water to get any more into Elwood. They are real close to the point where they can no longer rely on gravity to fill the reservoir, which is what has been done thus far. No pumps have been turned on this year, it’s all been gravity fill. That’s how low the lake was. I think they want to avoid turning the pumps on, as it’s not cheap at all to do so. I think we could be done with water going in this year at Elwood….but it’s been great. Maybe we’ll get a western NE monsoon!

A friend told me that the South Platte River in Colorado is running like crazy. Let’s just hope that it continues until we get some more rain. Then maybe they will put some more water in the lake.

Heard a report that the night fishermen are not having any luck getting alewife to the lights and that the wipers that they do catch are real skinny. It might be too little too late.
