Who all here will be losing a job over this mandate, or be otherwise affected in your workplace?

I sincerely hope this post won’t be removed by the mods. It seems to be an issue far more reaching than just the “P-word.”

Please discuss. Feel like I have to say it because it’s a touchy subject, but PLEASE keep it civil.

    What mandate?

Can’t find a recent one from governor or the president.

Why would someone lose their job over the mandate?

I assume you are referencing the vaccination requirements?

By not getting the vaccine, one would potentially lose their job, you would have to look for work at another place. My company Mandated everyone get vaccinated last year. I had covid didn’t really feel it was necessary, still haven’t gotten the shot, I could be walked out of my work any day now.

If that is what it come to…
    19mo into this over-reaction farce.
Big Govt’ is going force their will on people by trying to take a persons job away, something some people have worked their entire life for trying to climb the ladder.
People are going to crack and its not going to be pretty.

Every year I “trust” govt’ less and less.
Lying and pushing indians off land, creating national parks by and MANY other projects by creating eminent domain, we could go on and on.

I work for the federal government in law enforcement. We were initially required to be vaccinated or face strict testing, masking, and travel restrictions. Just the idea of having a swab shoved up the nose twice a week turned a fair number of people to be vaccinated.

Last week a new mandate was issued but has not been implemented yet. It is now a requirement since its under SA (Standard Authorization) from the FDA. I think the regular testing was becoming way too expensive and the logistics were a nightmare. I don’t personally know of anyone in my office/district who will be affected by this. We are also required to be vaccinated for a number of other diseases.

My wife and her coworkers were told they wouldn’t “lose” their job as an ER lead nurse as there’s such a shortage they know they’d never find replacements. She’s had the vaccine since last December dealing with Covid patients daily, while a handful have not. Just last week they “negotiated” an 11% raise across the board just to keep staff who were qualified to deal with everything going on.

I’m not a fan of mandates. Any time you try to “mandate” something people push back. Had they kept the vaccine scarce like it was last December-February, people would be doing everything possible to cut in-line, falsify their medical status, etc. and ultimately a greater percentage of people may now be vaccinated. Humans want what they can’t have or is hard to get, while things forced on them they run from.

Our feckless leader wants to force employees at companies with 100 or more employees to be vaccinated. He’s going the end-around way by making it an OSHA rule instead of an actual law.

I agree and disagree. The only people who would be fighting to get it would be the same ones who chose to get it. Everyone I know who won’t get it, my self included are in the same mindset now as we were when it was hard to get.
I wont be loosing my job, but I may be required to get tested to work on certain jobs.
Half the people I know personally who have the shot have also caught covid after they were vaccinated. So now they blame the non vaccinated people and drive more separation in this country

i think this thing is getting way ahead of itself…….. from what i’ve read, IF this gets truly mandated it wont happen for a while, i heard 2022 sometime, but dont qoute me on it.

a while back the EEOC, (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) already put out a statement that said employers could mandate a vacine.

personally and its been in the news i think there is going to be one heck of a lawsuit over this!!!!!!!

I hope you unvaccinated people survive. You are playing with your life and the lives of your loved ones.

We are loosing about 1500 of you a day. Statistics don’t lie.

I like Delta Airlines view, get vaccinated or pay $200 a month for additional cost of health care plus testing.

Seems unreal that this could happen. My company will lose several key employees if this goes through… 😬 None of this makes any sense.

correct me if im wrong but wont you still have the option to not get a vaccine by opting for weekly testing? Dont want the vaccine? then just chose to get tested. what the problem is?

I have to get tested every week at work. I literally walk down the hall, stick a que tip up my nose and walk away. takes about 5 minutes and doesn’t pain me or keep me from doing my work anymore than a bathroom break does

At the end of the day in this work environment, if you’re good at what you do and willing to work you won’t find it difficult to find another job if your convictions are so set on not getting a vaccination.

Some small businesses out there that I’m sure would love to take on new unvaccinated talent, and with prices up for that talent one might be better off anyways.

I don’t agree with it whatsoever, but it is what it is. Won’t find me protesting in the streets about it.

It seems to be working too. A significant portion of their work force has decided that its not worth paying an extra 200 bucks/month for health insurance.

A hospital stay in the ICU costs up to $50 grand so I can see why an employer might go this route.

With that logic, people who smoke, do drugs, eat unhealthy etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. should all have to pay more…

I thought they took away the testing option, might be wrong though. The mandate is the vaccine. The employer will be fined $14k per instance, so Yes people will be losing their jobs over this…quite ridiculous.

95% of the people in the hospital with COVID right now are unvaccinated, that right there should tell you something. Yes you can still get COVID with the shot but there is low % you will get real sick and have to go on a ventilator. The shot is no different then a flu shot. Ask the guy who was out spoken on not getting the vaccine and now is dead. Follow the science guys. I was a non vaccser till the science showed my what can happen with out it. Each there own, but when we do not see you posting anymore we will all ask where is so and so?

Incorrect. See Sharon’s post, the first bullet point. There is an option to be tested instead.

Hmm..I see her bullet points, but maybe I’m missing something or something has changed since I’m seeing the testing option has been removed…

Thursday’s order will remove the option for rigorous testing, as the United States struggles to contain the highly contagious delta variant.

Pretty common to get a discount on insurance for not being a smoker, having healthy cholesterol levels etc. A lot of companies do annual screenings where some health workers would come in to the office for a day to run it.
