Jigging minnow?

Has anyone tried a mustad triple grip on a jigging rap or puppet minnow? I believe it is the same hook that is on a flicker shad, but they do make one with a shorter shank. Was watching a show on YouTube and the guy replaced the hooks on a shiver minnow with that shorter shank hook. He said the shorter shank won’t let it fowl as much as the longer one would(makes sense). The most interesting thing I noticed was that most of the fish stayed hooked when netted. In my experience, the stock hooks almost always pop out in the net and sometimes on the way in. Would love to improve hook to catch percentage. I know this has been talked about before but I didn’t see anything about this specific hook.

I upsized the trebles on a few of my jigging raps with gamakatsu ewg short shanks. Haven’t been out to try them yet. Will report back.

I love the triple grips, replace most of the stock ones on my cranks when I can with them. Once they are pinned on a triple grip they are there to stay. Only issue is they are a little lighter wire so they break easier. Great hooks and good idea to change them out on the puppet minnow. I need to run and get some short shanked ones for that.

The triple grips have worked really well for me. I’ve also had success with gamakatsu round bends. The key for me has really just been upsizing. That’s helped my hookup percentage in a huge way.

In my experience about 1/2 come unbuttoned before you land them. I have replaced some hooks with Triple grips. I like super line , Al Linder likes mono. I think it has to do with the weight of the lure that causes the fish to come unhooked.
