Just looking for some opinions and insight into all the various brands of Jigging lures out in the market. I’ve been fishing them more and more recently and only have used the Rapala. Do any of you find much difference in fishing success between any of them? ie; Rapala jigging Rap, vs Northland vs Acme Hyper, vs Shiver minnow, etc
Any differences in quality or brands that one should stay away from? Opinions appreciated.

I think everyone here will say there’s a time and a place for all of them. Some favorites here are jigging raps, rippin’ raps, shiver minnows, blade baits. Haven’t heard many people using things like slab raps or chubby darters.

While rip jigging for walleye I normally am using a Rippin rap most of the time. When the normal rip let it fall is not working I will sometimes switch to a steady retrieve trying to keep it right near the bottom. I prefer the acme hyper glide with those wings in open water and the clam tikka mino hard water.

Up until a few years ago I fished jigging raps a lot all summer because of lake I fished a lot. Used 7 and 9’s but after a few fish the plastic tail would come off. They produced but never tried other brands

Lures of similar clones just fish pretty much the same for me. As for myself, I do like to collect different makes from different companies. Afterall there are some subtle differences. The Northland airplane jig is very different as it glides much much more. They don’t produce the small ones any more. Last I saw was the larger Magnum size ones they still had, but they are 1/2 oz. and 1 oz. in weight.
