Im sure this may have been covered before cut couldn’t find anything for a fix. Took my jiffy propane out tonight. Transported it correctly. Drilled 3 holes. On the 4th it really bogged down. Oil was pouring from it.

The only thing ive done different is filled my own 1 pound tanks from a 20 pounder.

So first question is what happened and 2nd is can it be fixed? Really in need of an auger asap and im really preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.

What a coincidence, sounds exactly what Carter Paulsen had happen…posted on the recent Electric Auger post.

“Was drilling with my 3 year old Jiffy Pro-4 propane tonight and it was just draining oil out of the air filter and think it drained all of it out”

That would be because he was fishing right beside me. I think he is wanting to move on to the electric. Been then done that. First problem I’ve had with my propane.

Hoping it can be fixed. I’m guessing it’s not the first time it’s happened to someone

I believe the jiffy propane augers can only be laid down with only a certain handel facing up. Otherwise the oil leaks into to air box and makes a mess. It should say this side up on one of the handles. My uncle’s jiffy propane did this to him also. His is a few years old don’t know if things have changed in the newer models.

So did each of you have your own Jiffy propane and this happened to each of you at the same time? shock

Yes. Seems kind of odd doesn’t it? It was cold but have cut many holes with it in the extreme cold. Makes me wonder if it was the actual propane its itself.

Friend had the same thing happen last year on a brand new Jiffy propane first trip out. Jiffy took it back and gave the money back. Something was faulty. Same thing oil leaking out when drilling and just sitting there.

Mine has always leaked, not a ton, but it’s been noticeable since the first time I used it 3 years ago.

Run a K-Drill now. About 100 lbs lighter and no mess. Can’t help you with the oil but just wanted to say mine has always done that too.

Start by using the warranty that comes with your auger.
Not sure where your from but they have a great map to locate a service center.

90% of the time it is that it was stored incorrectly.
It should have spark plug up or carburetor up.
Yes, I suppose something could have broke just like any other auger. It happens…

I know this is an older post but did you figure out what it was. I’m having the same problem with my 3 year old pro4 lite also and I’m pretty careful on which way I lay it down

I took it in to a small engine repair shop here locally. He said he went through carb and air filter. Cleaned it all out good. It is running good now. I’m guessing its because I laid it the wrong way. Real pain in the ass if you ask me. Strongly considering a electric of some sort and just keep my propane around for late ice or when I go after walleyes so I can utilize the 9 inch hole.
