I’m pretty sure the older Jiffy augers were 24:1. I had one of the last adjustable carb ones they made, probably bought new in the early 2000’s or so. I think that took 24:1 but for several years I mixed Amsoil Saber at about 80:1 in it with no problems.

Those Jiffy model 30s… old heavy monsters but always seemed to start in 1 or 2 pulls, could cut with dull blades (who needs to use a blade cover!), and seemed to make more power the older they got and more holes they cut.

I sold mine to my brother about 5 years ago. Still have a soft spot in my heart when I hear that now pretty rare pop-pop-pop if a Jiffy fire up somewhere on the ice.

    1970s I would guess 24:1 but like I said that’s a guess.

My fathers, that we bought for him in 1991 was the 2 hp model and I believe that called for 40:1 but mine that I bought in the early 2000’s was the 3 hp model and that called for 24:1

I miss my old model 30. Ran better when I sold than when I bought it new. I just couldn’t take the weight anymore. Adjustable carb so you could always fine tune. Sweet old girl.

I have one from the mid 80’s, 24:1 is the ratio, still has the sticker that states that. I don’t have the heart to replace her.

If you are going to use the newer full synthetics I would run a 50-1 mix, the newer lubricants are so much better then when that auger was built.

I believe Jiffy changed the mixture recommendation to 40:1 for all their ice augers. This is from their website:

Use this chart to mix gasoline and Jiffy® Synthetic Blend Two-Cycle Oil with Fuel Stabilizer for Jiffy® Power Ice Drills and BADGER™ Earth Augers.

    The ratio for Tecumseh TVO85 (3 hp), AV520 (3 hp), AV600 (3.5 hp), TMO49 (2 hp), TC200 (1.6 hp) and TC300 (2 hp) engines is 40:1.

    Gallons of Gasoline
    1
    2
    Ounces of Two-Cycle Oil
    3.2
    6.4

TIP: We recommend preparing a mixture in a one gallon gasoline container to keep the mixture as fresh as possible. For Seasonal use, mix your fuel in the season in which it will be used annually.

TIP: Tecumseh recommends that a fuel stabilizer be added to the mixture to keep it as fresh as possible. Jiffy® has excellent results with Jiffy® Oil with Fuel Stabilizer.

TIP: Jiffy® Synthetic Blend Two-Cycle Oil with Fuel Stabilizer comes in 3.2 oz bottle, the exact mix for 1 gallon of fuel.
