Jiffy Customer/Warranty Service

So I had to drop off my Pro4 Lite for the 3rd time in one year at the local warranty service center.

Every time I drop this thing off it takes 1.5 -2 weeks to get it back. Does Jiffy really drag their feet this much in getting parts/answers to the warranty service shops or does this particular service shop suck?

What’s been your experience with Jiffy warranty service?

BTW stay away from the Pro4 Lite. It’s a POS and even if I get it back in working order I’ll be getting rid of it.
This was my first owned Jiffy auger and likely my last.

That’s unfortunate, I’ll be taking the new 4G lite out for its second venture tomorrow. Hope she lasts!!

Mine being propane doesn’t have anything to do with it. I just got a lemon, hey at least it’s the right color.

I don’t know…..if I hand a company $400+ I expect their product to work not to have to take it in for service 3 times and have to wait almost 2 weeks to get it back every single time.

At this point the only thing they can do to make me happy is swap out the powerhead. I’m running out of warranty and if it has had this much trouble in the first year I can’t imagine what it’ll be like in a few years.

Every auger company is going cheap now a days. If I were to buy another auger i would be a nils, and see how it is.

Seamus, I have the same anger. Luckily no problems yet. If I may ask, what went wrong with your’s? Sorry to hear you are having problems.

Yeah T’ve pretty much already decided that Nils or at the very least the Tanaka power head is the only way to go.

Robby, it’s just been junk from day one. First it never idled right, didn’t matter where I had the set screw on the carb, always had to the feather the throttle to keep it going. Second when I would get it out on the ice it would lose power while cutting. Took it in, they thought they had fixed it, got it back on the ice and nope. Brought it back, this time Jiffy had them swap out the coil (which seems weird too me b/c it always started fine…2 pulls). This time it was idling much better, but by the time I got it back the season was over and I couldn’t try in real world conditions. Finally got it out on the ice last weekend and it could barely get through 4″ without dieing. I’ve done everything I’m supposed to do…started it periodically during the off season, changed the oil, added 3 oz, stored it in an upright position, and I don’t push on the auger to get it to punch through….It’s just junk.

As far as I can tell the only thing I did that I wasn’t supposed to do was buy a Jiffy auger. One of lifes little learning experiences…too bad it cost $400+ and lost fishing time.

Just seen Cabelas has sales going on Strikemaster Honda power augers now. Looks like ice fishing products are starting to go on sale, I’d dump that Jiffy and look elsewhere if Jiffy don’t treat you right.

Not all of us (me) has thousands or even hundreds of dollars in disposable income so I can’t exactly run out and buy a new auger even if it’s on sale. It took time and hard work to save the money for that Jiffy. The amount of money these people (Jiffy, SM, Eskimo, etc) charge for plastic and metal is ridiculous. Especially for the end product that we as consumers get and the s**t we have to eat when something goes wrong with them. Then you call them to talk about it and they act like it’s no big deal.

I’ve heard plenty of complaints about SM as well, so no I don’t think I’ll be running off and buying one anytime soon.

    Yes, I’m bitter

X2 that… especially coming from someone like me who has been loyal to SM. 3 hondas and 2 lazer mag in 3 years. Thats a lot of augers, and money. Unfortunately I only have one now, the one that still works.

Last year I bought the Jiffy 4 Pro Lite 4-stroke. Love, love, love that thing. First pull on full choke it pops, move to the middle choke and make sure it’s fully warmed up, then go to town. I have a Lazer too, but some of the ice we fished had sand or gravel blown onto it so I was constantly changing those Lazer shaver style blades. Not anymore. Hopefully you can get your issues resolved, nothing sucks worse than spending a good amount of change on something which is supposed to make your life easier, and it ends up stressing you out.
