Jiffy Auger

I have a jiffy model 30 gas auger. Bought it new last year. It keeps stalling out I believe it’s running lean. When I prime it it ran better for a short while but eventually bogged out again. The two screws inside the air filter that hold the carb on keep loosening up. Initially when I tightened those it seemed to help a little. I now can’t get it to start at all and gas keeps leaking out of the small hole on the top of the gas cap. I don’t recall their being a vent screw or anything but maybe there was something plugging it that I lost along the way? Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

If had one that would not run with any load applied, but would idle fine. The governor spring was stretched out and needed to be replaced. I’m thinking if you are having trouble idling but if you just got it someone may have adjusted the carb trying to fix it. Not sure if it will help you but something to look at.

You have a two-year warranty on the auger. I wouldn’t hesitate to call the manufacturer and get it serviced.

Something is incorrect with the carb, it shouldn’t be loosening up. It sounds like an air fuel problem.

    Start with a phone call.

So the throttle cable came out I put that back in and it seems to be staying for now. I tightened up the two screws that hold the carbon till they were snug, but not too tight. Any other suggestions?
