As a gopher fan I’m not ready to crown us champs quite yet. What I’m most excited about is the progress. We are finally building towards a respectable program. It is nice not to be the doormat anymore. Hopefully some talented kids across the country are taking notice and we can start to get a few big recruits. Or at least keep the talent in MN instead of them all heading to WI.

I’ll tell you, I wish NDSU was back on the non-conf schedule and 50% of the tickets should be reserved just for NDSU fans.

Yes, it’s an entertaining game, but the economic blitz was awesome. Last time the Bison were in town, the Mall of America, the hotels, the bars, the restaurants, green and gold was everywhere and it wasn’t Packer fans for once. All this for a non-conference game. I happened to be out at Cabela’s that weekend and it was packed with NDSU fans. There was even 2 tour busses in the parking lot.

Get NDSU back on the schedule for football and UND for hockey.

Doubtful! Even though I’m back in MN, you can’t take the green and gold pride out!

No not a big fan, just surprised in how they are doing. I still believe year in and year out Nebraska is one of the most over rated teams in the country. That said anytime you win in Lincoln it’s a big deal.
    Good job Gophers.

    Ha ha, are you serious?!?!

    Which ones? ESPN: http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/power-rankings
    FOX: http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/power-rankings
    CBS: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/rankings/cbs

Don’t see any NDSU on any of those. Course we could check the D2 rankings if you wanted? mrgreen

Pretty much 100% sure you would not be favored. Not that it matters and I was just giving you a hard time, as I have an uncle that also thinks NDSU is the best team in the entire nation. These Gophers aren’t Tim Brewster’s guys though. This is a good, well coached, tough team.

Should be a great game tomorrow.

Looks like the guppies are putting up a good fight. I expect a big momentum shift in the 2nd half.

X2, Badgers get get stronger as game goes on…as long as they have the momentum. Hats off to MN, they’re playing them hard.

The Badgers have not played well today, at least not as well as they are capable of, I haven’t been impressed with our highly touted defense stopping a basically inept throwing QB in Leidner and the MN basic option game. If the Badgers win they will have to be much much better against it against OSU.

I think we will play OSU tough because we usually do. Think we got a good chance next Sat. especially since they lost their starting QB.

You could say the same about the gophers. As far as the gophers offense, they’ve been doing it all year against (almost) every opponent. Why you would think the Badgers are any different is beyond me.

I thought it was a good game by two good teams no matter what the armchair quarterbacks say. It’s nice to see new competition arising in the big 10.

I didn’t get to see much of the game but I’m wondering of Wisconsin’s size just wore the Gophers down in the 4th quarter.

Well, lots to talk about in this thread…

First hats off to Coach Kill for managing his health so that the naysayers of last year didn’t have to come out and question his program because of his siezures. He was and is still showing progress with what is becoming a good football program.

Next, love to hate U. Meyer, but he may be what brings the that all important speed factor to the B1G… In order to keep up the rest of the B1G will have to recruit speed too and that can only help the whole conference!!!

I love in the world of athletics the people that say we didn’t play well (sorry & with all due respect icefanatic)… Is there ever any consideration given to the opponent??? We haven’t played well in any first half because it was taking that long to wear down the opposing defenses!!! They had a good game plan and the true question was whether we could pull the same wear down approach that has given us the winning streak since the NW game. I would suspect that the MN coaching staff found things in the film study that helped them stack the box and helped them to determine a strategy to offset the Badger “D’s” formidable pass rush.

I hope we will give Stave the chance to prove himself in the championship game. We need to get teams out of the “stacking the box” defensive mode, so that we can get Gordon/Clement to the 2nd level. I contend that had Stave not gotten hurt in the MSU game two years ago, there never would have been a QB issue @ WI.

Hopefully bringing a healthier Clement to the next game will help keep Gordon fresher, so that when they bring McEvoy in there is a dual threat in that running approach. Even with McEvoy in, it would be nice to see them try play-action fake to throw a short pass to get them out of the box. Either way we need to show that dual threat to really up our game.

Lastly I didn’t see the last 8 minutes of the OSU/UM game, but the third string guy must have played okay or MI just threw it away… It was close and then JT gets hurt and they put up another 2 tds???

As for NDSU, great program, they might have been able to beat the Gophers and might still be able to beat the Gophers, but it is as long as Coach Kill is around going to become more and more difficult… Just sayin’…
