Jaw Jackers

A couple questions on jaw jackers…

    1. Are they allowed on the St Croix River?
    2. If you are on WI side of river with WI fishing license are they legal?
    3. How is MN the only state to still not allow them? Not sure on the reasoning but they seem like they would limit a fish gutting a hook like they can on a tip up.

Never used one but it seems ridiculous to be outlawed but it doesn’t surprise me.

Because MN is the land of 10,000 stupid game laws. This is one of many.

I seen something on target walleye along the lines of a dnr agree they are less harmful then tip ups. Hopefully it’s something they change one day

When I asked I was told you have to be watching your lines at all times so there is no reason to have something set the hook for you. If you are too busy to tend to all your lines, you should reduce the number of lines you are using.
I think they would be less harmful and wish we could use them in MN.

The company will need to come up with a more politically sensitive product name for the Minnesota market. “Jaw Jacker” is too scary of a name for our current legislature to allow. coffee

Totally agree. Let’s get some new name ideas going. Maybe the snook hooker?

So Stevie Wonder could not use bobbers or tip-up/downs in MN?
Wonder what that response would have been…

Tie the line to your finger. If that hand is busy use your other one. If both hands are busy tie it to your….. leg.

I swear I remember tip-ups being illegal in MN in the 70’s.

Me too, thought it was great when we were able to use them. Still do. maybe they could paint those jaw Jackers in rainbow colors, they’d sail right through the whole legislature.
