Not filing/paying taxes on time he should go to jail? Assuming he got caught up and paid the penalties.
I mean, I cant stand him but I don’t think he needs jail time.
    Am I way off?

Not necessarily for the Tax charge. Possibly on the gun charge, especially when his Dad wants to increase gun laws, while his son skirts the existing laws.

I’m more interested in what the Biden family business is? They get millions from China, Ukraine and other less than trustworthy sources, so what is the product or service they provide? Besides influence peddling of the Vice President and now President, which is also known as treason.

Hunter was also charged with failure to timely file and pay taxes in 2017 and 2018 when, by his own admission, he was in the throes of an addiction to crack cocaine.

He only paid them after he was caught.. kind of like I forgot to pay for this candy, after walking out of the store.

As far as his gun crimes… if he were a black man in Chicago and did the same crime, the stats show he would have been jailed…period.

I was making that point as I 100% think anyone who touched an officer should be punished.

Well duh. Of course they should. The one officer who died they claimed he was hit with a fire extinguisher which proved out to be false. He had a known heart issue and had a heart attack. IDK about others injured, but those who did the crime should do the time.

The Justice Department charged that Hunter possessed a Colt Cobra revolver in Delaware in October 2018 while “knowing that he was an unlawful user of and addicted to a controlled substance.”

The maximum penalty for the gun charge is 10 years in jail and a fine of $250,000.
Hunter was also charged with failure to timely file and pay taxes in 2017 and 2018 when, by his own admission, he was in the throes of an addiction to crack cocaine.

He got zero jail time for his crimes.

Ok. Great. Now help us understand how this represents a two tiered system.

Would be interesting to know all the facts with both cases, but how does Wesley Snipes get 3 years in jail for not paying his incomes taxes but Hunter gets probation? Not sure if both are cases are the same, just that both failed to pay their income taxes. Now if a common person (without any political clout), that was an addict and lied on a gun registration form, would he get the same treatment as Hunter?

All good questions and worth looking into. My understanding is that he ended up paying what was due but still broke the law. Also, plea deals usually get much lighter sentences than going to trial.

The other aspect is that the gun charge is usually used in a manner where they don’t have enough evidence to convict someone on a more serious crime so they use this law to arrest and convict them of something.

Not gonna lie. I was expecting a wildly different answer. I always thought that Chicago was so lenient on crime and that’s why the crime is so out of hand there.

Well its one of the hardest places to obtain a gun LEGALLY and has one of the highest gun crime rates in the nation so that should tell you something.

I find it fascinating how many rioters were arrested and found guilty and sentenced. Today another guy from Cali got 13 years for using a stun gun. It doesn’t surprise me that they caught so many, I don’t care about any that got caught nor do I care about the politics of it. What I find interesting is all the camera angles and video the Government can grab up and use when they want to. Big brother truly is alive and well in 2023.

Camera’s are everywhere, even here in fly-over land.

I’ve read here with you saying that you didn’t have enough info to make a decision and that you’d let the courts do the judging. The courts seem to be doing a fine job. Thank you for that perspective. I too let the courts make those decisions.

To quote Mr Jordan, “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes”, seems fitting here though. Every one of those people had a choice and apparently those convicted made the wrong one, eh.

Courts can only decide cases that are brought before them.

From an article I read says “Snipes argued the IRS was an illegitimate government agency and cited an obscure section of the tax code that establishes that foreign sources of income for U.S. citizens are taxable. He also claimed he was a non-resident alien. Snipes was born in the U.S. in 1962, however.” I think if you thumb your nose at paying taxes because you think you are so smart finding what you perceive as a loophole a like a big out in the open F#$K you to the IRS. They will really come after you. Snipes wasn’t able at the time to pay the tax or fines. Biden, it seems earned 3 million over the two years in question and didn’t file a tax return or pay any tax those two years. He was able to plea out of felony tax crimes and plead guilty to misdemeanors if he paid the tax, fines and interest, and follow required terms set. I don’t know if that is a common plea or not. I think that if he wasn’t able to pay the fines there is no way the IRS or the DOJ accept the plea.

I’ll say it. the sheep are still grazing.
If the media was not controlled by the White House we would have have a much different situation right now. Nothing on the news about China, the border, the economy, inflation……
There is NOTHING that but double standards here at work – get real.
I am NOT a TRUMPER either – this current administration is a joke in every way shape and form.
Oh, and our good friend at the capital was censured – Mr Schiff called out for defrauding the American public. He should have been relieved of his duties. Makes Kamala look relevant.
Republicans censured two OF THEIR OWN. NOT saying they’re any better just outlining the fact.
In the country’s history 9 members have been censured – 3 republicans and 6 democrats. THe last was Republican Dave Durenberger from MN

I read about China, the border, the economy, inflation daily in the Red Star, CNN, Fox, WSJ and more. I don’t pay much attention to TV news other than the weather and sports.

Even if he received a stiffer sentence, a Presidential pardon would be available.

I find it fascinating that a group of people thought they were literally going to overthrow the US government and that was going to work out well for them…

however you interpret the rhetoric leading up to the event is totally up to you… but what ended up happening holds much more weight in my eyes
