    Pay per view executions.

Might be the only deterrent for these types of animals.

Make a zoo for monsters like danny. People like that are not human. Animals like that deserve to be locked in a cage with some chimps.

I can not imagine what the wetterlings are going through.

I couldnt contain myself if I seen that ________ on the street.

    A few random thoughts.

I can’t think of any other event in my lifetime that has directly affected more people. Kids didn’t ride their bikes around wherever they wanted to anymore. Parents were watching closely all the time now. Schools started keeping lists and taking names. If you were a kid when this happened, your world changed that very day. If you were a parent at the time, your world became a lot scarier.

Like I said elsewhere, this one was personal. It hurt all of us.

The Wetterlings are the strongest people I’ve ever heard of. I know with absolute certainty that I wouldn’t have been able to hold it together like they have.

As foolish as it might have been, I always held onto the hope that one day a young man would walk into a police station and say “I think my name is Jacob” and that he would get to go home again. It’s happened before. When my wife told me they found him….well I lost it. Very sad.

And finally the statement from Patty Wetterling:

“Everyone wants to know what they can do to help us. Say a prayer. Light a candle. Be with friends. Play with your children. Giggle. Hold Hands. Eat ice cream. Create joy. Help your neighbor. That is what will bring me comfort today.”

    I’ll do my best.

I’m not sure I accept the plea deal. The only right thing to do is remove this person from society. Permanently. For people like this there is no suitable punishment because no matter how harsh the punishment, it will never deter these types of people from doing these things.

The more I think about it the more disappointed I am.

I thought this way at first too, but then I thought about the situation and this deal, albeit with the devil himself, is the lesser of the two evils.

From the description of the situation, as given by the Federal Prosecutor, I can see that options were limited.

If they allowed the perp Heinrich to go up the river for what would probably amount to a life sentence on the child pornography charges as was almost certain to happen, then they lost all leverage.

Basically, this was their only chance to KNOW what happened. Heinrich would have no motivation to confess to anything after convicted of the child porn charges because he would have just received what would amount to a life sentence.

Truly a deal with the Devil, but IMO the Wetterlings deserved to know and as painful as cutting a deal with a perp POS like this was, in thinking about it more, I think it was justified. The alternative would have been a very strong chance of NEVER knowing.

Thw Wetterlings are stronger people than i am. I pray for them. I pray for the soul of that monster who created this.

Listening to the radio today, hearing the devils account of the incident, it made my stomach turn. I pray for Jacobs soul, and for his family and friends. I could not find an issue with Jacobs family if they sought revenge, I just couldn’t. I would.

    Grouse,

I might need to sleep on it before commenting further but based on what I read he’ll be getting out around the age of 74. Maybe I missed something though.

Putting aside all emotional attachment to this horrific crime, I just can’t stand the thought of a letting a guy out that simply can’t be rehabilitated.

It is possible that he’ll get out in 20 years, but under current law, he could and likely would be civilly committed for additional time after his sentence is served. Civil commitment is under legal review and is likely to change, but probably won’t go away.

So there would most likely be ways to keep him from seeing the outside for years after his plea deal is served. If, of course, he’s lucky enough to last that long.

I agree, the situation is one of taking the best of two awful choices. The b@stard POS took advantage of the situation to be sure, but God has the final say and only then if poetic justice does not get its pound of flesh first.

Why not just turn him free? Announce the when & where E… And simply open the door, kick him out and drive away. I am sure a welcoming party would be there with open arms….. Further trial or tax money to keep the monster alive would not be needed…..and he would definately not be a threat to anyone any more.

May he go the way of Jeff Dahmer.

Sad thing is it doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t erase what he did. It doesn’t bring any comfort. There is no way you could do anything to the piece of dirt that would be equal or worse than what his victims went through, because they were innocent children. He is an f’d up evil person. He’d never be as terrified or hurt as they were.

I am somewhat comforted that the Wetterlings have closure.

Heed their words that have been quoted. Life is too short to hold on to anger and rage towards things you can do nothing about.

I wish they would have torn up his “plea deal” as soon as they got everything they needed out of the SOB. Double crossed him. I’m sure he kept telling Jacob everything would be alright if he cooperated, then shot him in the back of the head. Sick sick world we are living in.

The Wetterlings agreed to the plea deal and as a result can now have a funeral for their angel.

I understand the anger of this pos not being charged with murder, but I don’t see him walking out of the doors in 20 years.

We all suspected what happened to Jacob was horrific, but to hear the actual details made me sick to my stomach. Our brains don’t think that way thank God and to hear what someone is capable of if sickening beyond comprehension.

This story has caused violent thoughts I didn’t think I was capable of. This type of crime is the worst that can be committed.

    God bless the Wetterling family.

It was noted that the judge doesn’t have to abide by the plea arrangement. If I had his email address (the judge) there would be an email sent asking for life in prison.

Very sad deal… although, if his plea is not honored, the next “deal” they try to secure for information on solving and closing cases, will probably not happen. I agree it is shitty, but the only one’s that I feel should have made this deal are the Wetterling’s and it sounds like it was totally their call…. it’s the least that could be done for them for some closure.

And I assume if they ripped up the plea deal, they would go to trial where there is a chance prosecutors could screw up and he’d be freed. Well, until someone found him.

I think this was good for the Wetterlings even if it isn’t how they hoped it would pan out. At least they know now and have him for a permanent burial site.

I don’t think Daniel is the prison type and don’t look for him to exist long in that environment. 20 years in a federal slam is not a country club unless his lawyer gets him in at Rochester or Sandstone or Duluth.

I am hoping the judge decides to depart from the deal and gives him the cocktail.

Dahmer was bludgeoned to death in prison. He finished 1 year in solitary and felt safe to be with the general populus. One day he was assigned to clean toilets with 2 other inmates. He was found with his face bashed in that bathroom.

sounds like this guy just needs to get assigned to clean the bathrooms. simple
