It’s an Addiction

I am fortunate enough to have access to the Rapala VIP program. It’s probably caused me to spend a few thousand dollars more in lures than I’ve needed.

I have a terrible crank bait addiction. It’s a sickness.

    What’s yours?

For me it used to be plastics, my god I had a large collection of jigs and worms I am talking about an insane amount of plastics.
Then it was Blue Fox Vibrax spinners.
    Then it lipless cranks.

Now, well im not sure time will tell.

I get it. I have about a dozen Plano boxes of cranks. 1 box for #5 flicker shads, 1 box for #6, etc.

This covers Storm, Rapalas, Berkeley smash shads. I’ll never use all of them in my lifetime but I’ll be damned if I don’t have the color and size I want when I need it.

Just understand that with the addiction comes storage issues and with storage issues comes bigger & bigger boats. grin

My addiction other then boats is probably spoons. I have a few. wink

    More tackle=more storage=bigger boat=bigger truck=bigger garage=bigger house.

And this doesn’t even start to cover my cooler obsession.

Tying flies. I have flies that will never get wet. I guess it’s my creative outlet, and it’s something I can do during the long cold off season.

Mine is plastics and jig heads run a close second. Ringworms, paddle tails, split tails, and a whole lot more. I am so addicted to the walleye tick when they hit the plastic.

I’m with you, Matt! I hate the idea of not having the one I want when I want it. Plus, when I can’t fish, I love sitting in my boat in the garage … organizing the cranks with a beer next to me.

I just got done doing that. My wife doesn’t understand why I’m constantly organizing my tackle. When I told her it’s cathartic, she rolled her eyes. Of course, she never says a word when packages arrive so I got that going for me.

It’s amazing the number of things I can come up with throughout the winter on what in my boat needs a fixing just so I can do that… sit and tinker with random crap. Get some country tunes going and I wont be seen for the rest of the afternoon!

I remember when I was given a VIP account. I thought to myself “I’m going to save sooo much money!” Then one $400 order later I realized the discount made me buy 20x what I would have doah . On the other hand it’s nice having every style and color crankbait I’ll ever need. woot

This is the only addiction I know of that people look for affirmation from others.
I am a minimalist so I don’t understand. This comes up maybe twice a year.
Don’t get me wrong, I could careless about ones purchases or addictions.

Don’t care about anyone’s affirmations. Just thought it was any fun topic to bring up.

Definitely plastics….whether bass, crappie or walleye doesn’t matter. I see a color I think I’m running out of and buy three more bags. Then get home and realize I still have 5 bags of that same color…..

Well apparently after doing some cleaning in the garage I must have an addiction to Plano 3600 boxes/trays…

Hey Matt? I’m curious about your cooler addiction… Are you a YETI guy, or?
