It started out great…then took a taxi home

Last Saturday night I had a bit different guide trip.

An undisclosed IDO member and his favorite wife wanted a tour of P4 before heading out flathead fishing. No problem, we’ll start out at 5:30ish and tour down the main channel to the head of the lake and then back up through the WI channel. When we approached the lock we found there would be an hour wait for the tow to lock through. No problem, we have pleanty of time to get some fuel at the casino marina before they closed at 9 pm and then off catting.

I notice while in the lock my gas gauge was the lowest I’ve ever seen it, but I was sure confident we had enough to get us from the lock to the casino marina. We did and arrived at 8:55 to find the lights out and no one around! Dang I thought, why didn’t I fill up before heading out?

I called the casino and they transfered me to the valet. They said someone would be right down. Whew, pressure is off. Twenty minutes later and the pressure was on again because no one came and according to the lady I was talking with, no one was coming. It’s after 10 pm now.

My hats off to my clients that night. They were troopers.

We ended up taking a taxi ride back and I was apologizing all the way. I picked up the always awake Trumar and went back to the casino with truck and trailer to bring the boat home with my tail between my legs.

We stopped for fuel and found I had around 3 gallons left.

In 10 years I haven’t had anything close to this happening before…and the moral of the story?

Always leave with a full tank. And I’ll never count on a business to take care of my business again. (sigh)

Well they didnt sound so happy when they got out of the cab and were standing by your picnic table…just saying..

Oh…. and you didnt mention about your walk out to your boat sitting at the Casino marina..Ya know the part where you told me you wish you had a life jacket and scared due to all the drinking that was going on and the part where you thought some hot babe was going grab you and have her way with you !

Glad to help out Brian and stand guard over your new truck.

Well I don’t know about them “not being too happy” but I certainly needed “protection” on the casino docks!

    LOL!

Big Kudo’s goes out to the guys at L&D #3.
They called the resort to see if I was ok because they noticed I hadn’t returned!

I’ll be keeping them informed if I ever have to trailer back again.

It’s great to know there’s people watching your back! toast

Wouldn’t you save a pile of money gassing u p ahead of time than at the casino? Probably enough to buy at least a couple jars of stink bait?

I would have saved about $5.00 up front without subtracting the cost of driving to the WI side gas station.

Since it was on our way and didn’t expect to run that low, it was convenient.

I’m a creature of habit and admittedly wasn’t thinking. I can get three trips out of a full tank of gas. I had on trip on it. Shame on me!

Denny, it would be full unless you wanted me to give you and your wifie some time in one of the bays. shock
